[Genetics] 11th Kaamos-Symposium 10.12.-11.12.2007

Hei everybody!

This year's 11th Kaamos-Symposium, organised by the Department of Biology,
will be held on Monday, 10.12. and Tuesday 
11.12.2007 at the University of Oulu,
lecture hall YB210. As in the previous symposia 
our goal is to cover all areas of
research conducted at the Department of Biology 
in Oulu and connected institutions.

But we are dependent on your help and participation.

The Kaamos-Symposium should give especially 
graduate and under-graduate students
the opportunity to present their research. 
Therefore we want to encourage all PhD and
Master students as well as supervisors to 
motivate their students, who would like to
present their projects at this symposium. The 
Kaamos-Symposium is a great possibility
to show your data and results to your friends and 
colleagues. Furthermore it is one of
the rare occasions to train presenting your 
research in a known and friendly environment.
So, take advantage of this great opportunity, please!

We have funding to pay the traveling costs for 
people outside of Oulu. Students who are
not living in Oulu and would like to have a 
presentation can ask for travelling grants by
contacting the organising-committee.

Students, both Master students and PhD students, 
who give a presentation and participate
in the whole symposium will get 2 study weeks (4 
study points). If you just participate in the
whole symposium and either present a poster or 
write a summary of one talk, then you will
get 1 study week (2 study points). Presentations 
should be 15 minutes, plus 5 minutes for
questions and discussion. Registration deadline 
for presentations and posters is the 31st
of October. Abstracts should be ready and send to us by the 30th of November.

There will be a poster session as well. All 
researchers from the department are welcome to
show their posters from latest conferences at the 
poster session on Tuesday, 11.12. just
after the last presentation. The poster session 
will lead smoothly over to the symposium
party, where coffee, snacks and refreshments will 
be served. Another good possibility to
talk and get to know everybody, as last year's participants can report.

Everybody is very welcome to listen to the 
presentations and to the poster session!
