Kendo03.avi piristää kummasti, miksihän kendo-tyyppi lyö
ritaria kypärään, eihän siinä tuntuisi olevan kovasti järkeä?
jigen-ryun video on aika jänskä, jota kendo-worldinkin sivuilla
juuri kummasteltiin, ja koulukunnasta tietävät kirjoittivat mm.
"the Jigen Ryu Satsuma Samurai were possibly the most feared of warriors
in the feudal times. Their extremely fast ,fierce attacks and blood curdling
screams were said to cause their ememies to flee in terror."

"The 'small waza' is an advanced technique. Beginners start by making very
large cuts. I think you will find that in many schools of swordsmanship as
people progress their waza become smaller. Also the mechanics of cutting
are totally different from anything I have done before. I practiced MJER,
Niten Ichi Ryu, and Kendo previously, and I literally had to start from
scratch with Jigen Ryu. The fundemental concept is that the left elbow
doesn't leave the chest when cutting."

"ZealUK, my sensei claims that back in the day, Jigen-ryu used to train
soldiers by handing them a bokken, assigning them a tree and having them
cut the tree down. When the tree fell (a process of some months), training
was over. True? That tategi cutting seems like a very similar exercise.
Answer:In the Edo Jidai, there was a guideline that the tree should be
struck 3000 times in the morning and 8000 times in the afternoon. Thats 11000
times a day, every day."
