Terve,
NM on tänä vuonna Skellefteåssa hieman muuttunein menoin eli lauantaina
avoin joukkuekisa ja yksilö kyu-kisa. Sunnuntaina sitten ohjelmassa
leiritystä kisaamisen tueksi. Alla kutsu tekstiformaatissa kun en viitsi
peedeeäffää laittaa listalle.
Olisiko Oulusta lähtijöitä tuonne ensikuun alussa? Olisihan se hienoa saada
vaikka joku Oulu/Tornio tiimi kasaan ja mukavia reissujahan nuo ruotsin
keikat ovat tähän asti olleet kaikin puolin. Matkaahan tuonne on Oulusta
hyvinkin alle 400km eli ei kovin kaukanakaan ole..
Mika

Official Invitation
Öppna Norrländska Mästerskapet
Hello all fellow kendoka, I hope you receive this letter in good health and
spirit, as it is once again time for the annual ”Öppna Norrländska
Mästerskapet” (NM for short).
The event will this time be held in the town of Skellefteå, and such will be
arranged by Skellefteå Shimbukan Budoklubb (SSBK).
The event will take place from Friday the 2nd up to and including Sunday the
4th of June.
As always with new arrangers, they often come with their own tweaks to old
ideas, and we are no different - we felt that we wanted to reform the
competition slightly. We have always seen NM as a less harsh way of having
our less experienced people actually compete for real, as they often seem
somewhat intimated by the bigger national contests and tournaments as they
suspect that they will most likely fall to the more experienced competitors
rather quickly (which is generally true too).
The thing is, as kendo have started to grow both in numbers, age and in
skill up here in our northern wastes it has started to become more and more
similar to those big, harsher tournaments where our lesser experienced can’t
really stand a decent chance of competing for the prizes.
So this year, the individual competition will have its focus on our
kyu-graded kendoka.
The team competition will not be changed though; it will still be 5 men
teams, with no limits to grades or such.
The individual tournament will however change into an all kyu competition,
where only those with kyu grades may participate.
We will be having regular keiko as well Friday and Sunday, with focus to
improve the kyu and their competitive level.
Schedule for the Weekend
Friday – 2nd of June
Keiko from 18.30-21.00.
The doors to the premises for the keiko will open 18.00.
Saturday – 3rd of June
Doors open at 08.00.
Shinai check and registration will commence at 08.30.
Invitational speech and Team competition will start at 09.00
Lunch break from 12.00 to 13.00.
When the Team competition has reached its end, we will have a short recess,
and then continue with the Individual competition.
Continued competition from 13.00 to 17.00.
After the competition is over, we will have the prize ceremony, shower,
change and be out before 18.00, when the doors will close.
During the evening, we will host a barbeque party for everyone (outdoors,
though we will have access to indoor areas if it rains). We will host the
grills, and we will guide you, our guests, to nearby convenience stores
where you can buy whatever you wish to eat, grill and drink.
Sunday – 4th of June
