saamaani informaatiota aivan Norjan pohjoisimmassa<BR>nurkassa (katso karttakuva
alla) olevasta lintukohteesta.<BR><BR>Slettnesin nimen kärjen ohi virtaa
keväisin suunnattomia määriä erityisesti<BR>ruokkilintuja, kihuja sekä
kuikkalintuja itään. Määristä saa alla olevasta<BR>tekstistä hyvän käsityksen.
Tietääkseni moni liiton jäsen on käynyt<BR>tutustumassa paikkaan, jopa itse P.
Komi, joten aivan tuntematon lintukohde<BR>Slettnes ei ole suomalaisillekaan.
Paikka on erinomainen lintujen<BR>valokuvauksesta kiinnostuneille, sen rikkaan
pesimalinnuston johdosta.<BR><BR>Alkuperäisen viestin lähettäjän Kåre Gripin
sähköpostiosoite on alla, ja<BR>hän antaa mielellään lisätietoa paikasta.
Lisäksi hän tarjoaa<BR>retkeilijöiden käyttöön kohtuuhintaista majoitusta. Kåre
itse on jo<BR>eläkkeellä, hän ei toimi ainakaan ensisijaisesti liiketoiminta

Slettnes ifs for sure a brilliant area to explore, as it is a<BR>sub Arctic
area, and contains both interesting migrating birds,<BR>breeders and some cool
rarities passing by now and then.<BR><BR>The best time to explore the area is
during the migration and breeding<BR>season. The migrtion time is best in May
and September. The breeding<BR>time is best from mid June to
July.<BR><BR>Between 10th to 15th of May we have some huge numbers of
Pomarine<BR>Skuas and Yellow-billed Divers migrating towards east. The best
days<BR>we count over 1000 Pom's and some hundred White-bills.<WBR>If the wind
is<BR>right, normally from north, many birds may approach close to the<BR>shore.
Away from that Gulls and Auk species migrate in hundreds of<BR>thousands towards
east.<BR><BR>During the breeding season you'll find around 50 breeding species.
The<BR>main attraction is the biggest "colony" of Arctic Skuas to be found
in<BR>Norway (around 300 pairs). Further on you'll find interesting
species<BR>as Little Stints, Whimbrels, Red-necked Phalaropes, Ruddy
Turnstones,<BR>Red- and Black-throated Divers, Gyr Falcons, Rough-legged
Buzzard,<BR>Red-throated Pipit, Lapland Bunting etc. The Snowy Owl sometimes
breed<BR>close by, but not annualy.<BR><BR>If you need more detailed
information, you can contact the World<BR>Wildlife Ecostation who do have
researchers staying around Slettnes<BR>the whole year. They are always updated
