sitä on mitattu vain harvoilta lajeilta. Tornipöllön kuulokynnys on alimmillaan
-20 desibeliä 7 kHz kohdalla (joka vastannee aika hyvin myyrien ’vikinää’),
kun ihmisen keskimääräinen kynnys on 0 desibeliä (äänenpaine 0.00002 N/m<sup>2</sup>).
Tämä tarkoittaa 100 kertaa herkempää kuuloa äänen intensiteetin (energian) ja
10 kertaa herkempää kuuloa äänenpaineen suhteen. Monilla pöllölajeilla paras
kuuloalue on selvästi korkeammalla taajuudella (4-7 kHz) kuin muilla linnuilla
(2-3 kHz), mikä saattaa olla yhteydessä saalisvalikoimaan ja saalistustapaan.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

onkin sitten jo toinen juttu. Jos jollakulla olisi havainto saalistuksesta
lumen alta pimeässä, olisi se aika naseva osoitus kuulon merkityksestä.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
