[SOOPA] Soopan ompelupäivä / Soopas sewing day

Hei,
Soopa järjestää ompelupäivän 1.12. kololla. Ovet toivottavasti
aukeavat klo 11 maissa ja ovat auki ainakin klo 16 saakka tai
kauemmin, jos mulla on hauskaa. Paikalla tulee olemaan ainakin soopan
ompelukone, toinen ompelukone ja saumuri sekä kaavoja (eli ohjeet)
lapasiin, pipoihin, sukkiin/leiritossuihin, varustepusseihin ja jos
joku haluaa, niin shelby.fi löytyy jokunen ilmainen kaava, jota voi
myös käyttää. Talo myös tarjoaa ompelulankaa (mustaa, sinistä ja
valkoista) ja ompelukoneen neulat.

Ideana on, että vaikkei osaa ommella mitään, mutta haluaa kokeilla
omien varusteiden tekoa, niin nyt on siihen mahdollisuus. Opastus ja
välineet löytyy paikan päältä. Jos ei ole ennen ommellut mitään, niin
ei kannata tässä vaiheessa pyrkiä tekemään mitään turhan
monimutkaista, vaan oppia alkeet ja tulla myöhemmin kololle
hyödyntämään ompelukonetta. Jos on kokemusta ja monimutkainen projekti
mielessä, niin voi tulla paikalle aloittamaan sen, mutta saattaa joutua
aina välillä antamaan konetta muille käyttöön. Voi myös tulla
korjaamaan revenneitä varusteita tai muuten vaan hengailemaan.

Pieni määrä laavukangasta löytyy, josta nopeimmat saavat tehtyä
vettähylkivän varustepussin itselleen, muut tuokoot omat kankaansa.
Shelby merikoskessa myy hyvälaatuista tavaraa tällaiseen (Shelby alun
perin toimi soopan kololta käsin, niin mainitkaahan soopa, kun käytte
siellä).

Eri projekteihin tarttee suurin piirtein seuraavaa.
- varustepussi: yhtenäinen palanen, joka on vähän reilu 2x suurempi
kuin haluttu pussi, kiristysnyörtä reilu 2x pussin suun leveys ja
nyöristopperi
- lapaset: merinoa tai fleeceä jos tekee esim normaalista 140cm
leveästä kankaasta, niin pituutta halutun lapasen verran + 10 cm

halutessaan pohjan voi koettaa tehdä kumipinnoitetusta kankaasta pidon
parantamiseksi. jos tekee leiritossut, niin pala makuualustaa tms
pohjalliseksi parantaa mukavuutta

Hi,
Basically anyone who want to try out sewing you own equipment, come to
the kolo on 1.12. I'll be there with two sewing machines, an
overlocker, some patterns (descibed below), threads, needles and
possibly some helpful advice. Also, the first people to get there will
find a small amount of materials to make water resistant stuff sacks
out of. With a bit of luck the door will open around 11 am and will
stay open until 4pm or later if I'm having fun.

If you have never used a sewing machine before, don't try to do
anything complicated now, just learn the basics with an easy project
and use those skills later when there are fewer people fighting for a
sewing machine. If you do have experience and start a longer project,
you might have to put it on pause every now and then during the day
just so that everyone gets to use the machines.

The available patterns and required materials are:
- stuff sacks: a piece of fabric a bit over 2x larger than the sack
you want, drawstring to close it and a cord lock
- mittens: a piece of fleece or merino 140cm wide and about 10cm
longer than the mittens you want

it might also be possible to make the bottom out of a rubberized
material. if making camp booties you will also need a piece of
insulating material (e.g. sleeping mat) for an insole

As said there will only be a small amount of fabric for stuff sacks (+
black, blue and white thread). Anything else you need to brig
yourself. A really good place to get the materials is Shelby in
Merikoski. They started out in Soopas basement so do mention Soopa
when you go there. They'll be able to advise you as to what you need.
