Webinaarissamme käsittelemme erilaisia lumivyörytyyppejä, niiden
muodostumista ja lumivyöryjen muodostumiseen vaikuttavia tekijöitä. Opit
tunnistamaan ne ja pysymään turvassa lumisissa olosuhteissa. Käsittelemme
myös riskienhallintaa, erityisesti vaellukselle valmistautumista,
lumivyöryraportin lukemista ja reitin valintaa lumivyöryriskin hallinnan
näkökulmasta.

Hi everyone!
Are you interested in winter hikes and maybe plan to visit a mountainous
area? Are you interested in the fascinating medium of snow and avalanches?
In our online session, we will cover the types of avalanches, how they
form, and factors contributing to avalanche formation. You will learn how
to recognize them and stay safe in snowy conditions. We will also touch on
risk management, particularly on tour planning, how to read an avalanche
report, and on route selection from an avalanche risk management
perspective.

This session is meant to be an exchange of ideas. I will provide
information on snow and avalanches from an Austrian perspective, and I hope
for discussions on how to adapt these ideas to Finland. The session will be
held in English.

Presenter introduces herself:
My name is Eva and I did an exchange semester in Oulu last autumn. During
my stay, I had the pleasure of attending some SOOPA events and the autumn
hike. Through conversations I realized that there might be some interest in
the topic of avalanches which seems not to be covered that much in Finnish
outdoor education. Given my experience of living in the middle of the
mountains of Austria and my passion for ski-touring since I was a child, I
would like to share my knowledge on this subject. I completed a youth
trainer education program at the Austrian Alpine Club, which included a
ski-touring guide. Although I am not a professional in this field, I hope
to provide you with some valuable insights. Since I really love the
fascinating medium of snow I would be happy to explore it a little bit with
you!
