Hyvät Maantieteilijät!
Toivottavasti suuri osa teistä osallistuu Maantieteen päiville tämän viikon lopulla Helsingissä (26.-27.10.2012).
Tieteellisten esitelmien lisäksi perjantai-iltapäivään on varattu aikaa maantieteilijäyhteisön vuorovaikutukselle.
Iltapäivän paneelien jälkeen on KAIKILLE MAANTIETEILIJÖILLE AVOIN SESSIO, joka käsittelee SUOMEN MAANTIETEELLISEN SEURAN VIESTINTÄ- JA JULKAISUSTRATEGIAA: 16:00–17:30 Communication and publishing strategy for the Geographical Society of Finland (Sali P5) http://www.maantieteenpaivat.org/
Session pääkieli on englanti, mutta kaikki voivat osallistua keskusteluun haluamallaan kielellä. Sisältö löytyy Päivien verkkosivuilla julkaistusta abstraktista (http://blogs.helsinki.fi/mp-2012/files/2012/10/Communication_and_Publishing....).
Session tavoitteena on luoda alustava VISIO JA KESKUSTELLA SUOMALAISTEN MAANTIETEILIJÖIDEN VUOROVAIKUTUKSESTA JA MAANTIETEEN SUOMALAISISTA JULKAISUKANAVISTA TULEVAISUUDESSA.
Viestintä- ja julkaisustrategia koostuu neljästä elementistä: · maantieteen verkkosivuista ”geography.fi”, · Suomen ”www”-kartastosta sekä · Fennia ja Terra -julkaisusarjoista, joita Suomen Maantieteellinen Seura ylläpitää ja kustantaa.
Session aikana aiheesta kiinnostuneet voisivat sopia jatkotoimenpiteistä. Tavoitteena on saada strategia hyvään alkuun ennen kesäkuun NGM-kokousta Reykjavikissa. Tuolloin pääsisimme keskustelemaan ja mahdollisesti sopimaan yhteistyöstä muiden pohjoismaalaisten seurojen ja julkaisusarjojen toimittajien kanssa.

Dear fellow Geographers!
I wish to see many of you at the Geography Days this week in Helsinki (26.-27.10.2012).
Along with the scientific themes there is time on Friday afternoon for the communication within the Finnish geographers.
After the afternoon panels there is a session dealing with the COMMUNICATION AND PUBLISHING STRATEGY FOR THE GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY OF FINLAND - open for everybody: 16:00–17:30 (Sali P5) http://www.maantieteenpaivat.org/
The session is in English language and the abstract is published in the web page of the Geography Days (http://blogs.helsinki.fi/mp-2012/files/2012/10/Communication_and_Publishing....).
The goal of this session is to VISION AND DISCUSS THE FUTURE OF THE FINNISH GEOGRAPHICAL PUBLISHING AND IMPROVED WAYS OF COMMUNICATION AMONG FINNISH GEOGRAPHERS.
The communication and publishing strategy includes four elements: · the common web pages ”geography.fi”, · the Finnish National “e”Atlas and · the Journals Fennia and Terra maintained and published by the Geographical Society of Finland.
During the session those who are interested could agree on the following steps. By the June 2013 NGM meeting I wish to have sketch of a strategy ready. There we have an opportunity to discuss our future plans and potential collaboration with other Nordic Geographic Societies and Geography publishers.
