The Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of the Polytechnic of Milan is delighted to announce that the applications are open for the international workshop in architecture and urban design:
"Metropolis '05 " www.leccoworkshop.com
All undergraduate final year students as well as young professionals
from
all over the world are invited to participate at the workshop, whether
they
are architects, engineers, landscape architects or city planners. The
number
of participants is restricted to a maximum of 20 to ensure the best
quality
and proficiency to the works.
The event (organised by prof.Massimo Tadi) is promoted by the
Department
of Architecture and Urban Planning and the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of the Polytechnic of Milan, with the partnership of Holcim group; Energia group; Aler; Associazione Costruttori Edili provincia di Lecco; Rodacciai s.p.a.
The topic for 2005 Metropolis editions will be the relationship
between
infrastructures for the mobility and the contemporary urban space.
For two weeks, partecipants, researchers, and teachers from all over
the
world will discuss a specific design topic, working out an architectural/urban project for a new railway station and its
surroundings.
They will be organized in two multidisciplinary, international
ateliers,
each consisting of up to ten participants. Two teams will be supervised
by
two project heads coming from AREP -France- and Skidmore Owings &
Merril -USA-.
The workshops will be held in Lecco (september 10th - 24th 2005). During the two weeks of the workshop, participant will be involved in
additional events (seminars, exhibitions, etc.) which will enhance the interest towards it, thus involving a wider public.
