Please remember that the deadline for registration to the 7th ESPON Financial Managers Seminar is on 23 April 2012. The seminar is organized by the ESPON Coordination Unit on 3 May 2012 in Bern, Switzerland in cooperation with the ESPON 2013 Monitoring Committee Member from Switzerland, Federal office for Spatial Development, ARE.
We kindly remind you that as specified under section 8.3.4 of the Programme Manual all Financial Managers of the Lead and Project Partners are required to attend at least once this training. In case of changes in personnel, the training shall also be attended by any staff newly in charge of financial management for the project.
If you have not yet participated in previous financial managers seminars, or have not yet registered to our upcoming event, you are kindly requested to register by 23 April 2012 at the latest, by sending the attached registration from either by fax (+352 54 55 80 701) or via e-mail (tereza.valaskova@espon.eumailto:tereza.valaskova@espon.eu).
Lead Partners and Project Partners are kindly requested to forward this reminder to their respective designated Financial Manager and designated First Level Controller. The Central Approbation Body representatives are kindly requested to forward this e-mail to the approved decentralized First Level Controllers involved in the certification of approved ESPON 2013 projects and to strongly recommend them the attendance.

Dear Central Approbation Body representatives, centralized First Level Controllers, designated First Level Controllers and Monitoring Committee Members,
We are pleased to invite you to the 7th ESPON Financial Managers Seminar which will be organized by the ESPON Coordination Unit on 3 May 2012 in Bern, Switzerland in cooperation with the ESPON 2013 Monitoring Committee Member from Switzerland, Federal office for Spatial Development, ARE.
Invitees of this 7th ESPON Financial Managers Seminar are:
· all the Financial Managers of the Lead Partners and Project Partners of the approved ESPON 2013 Projects
· all centralized First Level Controllers concerned for the approved ESPON 2013 Projects
· all decentralized First Level Controllers and designated first level controllers concerned for the approved ESPON 2013 Projects
As such, it is of highly importance for the Lead Partners and Project Partners addressed in this invitation email to forward it as soon as possible to their respective designated Financial Managers and designated First Level Controllers. We kindly remind you that as specified under section 8.3.4 of the Programme Manual all Financial Managers of the Lead/Project Partners are required to attend at least once this training. The Central Approbation Body representatives can also decide to participate in this event on a voluntary basis.
Within the seminar, further information and explanation on Chapter 8 of the ESPON 2013 Programme Manual will be given, the financial reporting as well as the first level control forms will be introduced and there will be the opportunity to raise questions relating the procedure, audit trail, first level control and any financial related issues of the ESPON 2013 Programme.
Attached please find the agenda of the event and the registration form. Some practical information about the travel and hotel facilities is enclosed for your information as well.
Additional information about the set-up of the first level control system of each country and the contact information of the centralized First Level Controllers and Central Approbation Body representatives participating in the ESPON Programme can be found on the ESPON web-site under: www.espon.euhttp://www.espon.eu.
The travel expenditure incurred for the financial managers of the Lead/Project Partners can be included in the financial claim of the project and will be reimbursed by the programme accordingly. The travel expenditures of the first level controllers / Central Approbation Body representatives are not financially supported by the ESPON Programme.

ESPON SCALES: Transnational seminar on Accessibility, Economy and Innovation (Bern, Switzerland, 4 May 2012) Federal office for Spatial Development, ARE would like to take the opportunity to inform you about the open seminar taking place on 4 May 2012 in Bern, Switzerland. The seminar focuses on topics like Accessibility, Economy and Innovation taking into account findings from ESPON as well as from national research. There will be presentations covering latest relevant results from the ESPON 2013 Programme as well as “fresh” information provided by researchers from ongoing ESPON projects. In connection with national research results this should lead to new and useful insights into current territorial dynamics in and around Switzerland. ESPON SCALES is a project by the ESPON Contact Points of Switzerland/Liechtenstein, Germany, Luxembourg, Austria and Hungary.
