Hei BCO Kieppiläiset, Ensimmäisessä BCO Kieppi tilojen johtoryhmässä tuli esiin, että on tarvetta tekemäämme TULIJAT TUTUKSI kaavakkeeseen. Idea on, että kukin uusi pidemmällä sopimuksella tutkijaksi ryhtyvä ja muukin henkilöstö kiertää lapun kanssa ja tutustuu sitä kautta BCO KIEPIn henkilöstöön. Hazardous waste - a day after

Hi, The hazardous waste storage was emptied today. A couple of commment: 1. Injection needles are collected, but they are not brought to the hazardous waste room. You can take them directly to the "special waste container" (erikoisjäte) outside of this building. 2. A clean aluminium folium waste is collected and taken to the storage room. An example about the clean aluminium folio waste is the folio used for autoclaving after autoclave tapes are removed 3. You have to mark your unit on the packages: Biocenter, Clinical Research Center, Microbiology 4. There will be a new booklet in the storage room with more detailed instruction for recording the waste after midsummer. Jäteasiaa jälkeenkin päin

Hei, Ongelmajätevarasto tyhjeni tänään. Muutamia tarkennuksia ongelmajäteteknikolta saadun palautteen mukaan. 1. Jäteneulat (viiltävä ja pistävä jäte) kerätään erilleen muotonsa säilyttäviin, särkymättömiin ja läpäisemättömiin astioihin, mutta niitä ei viedä ongelmajätevarastoon, vaan erikoisjätteisiin ulos. Viiltävä jäte päätyy joka tapauksessa Ruskoon haudattavaksi, ja on yksinkertaisempaa toimittaa se sinne suoraan kuin ongelmajätehuollon kautta. Lasijäte viedään myös ulos siihen tarkoitukseen varattuihin jäteastioihin. 2. Puhdas alumiinifoliojäte kerätään erilleen ja toimitetaan ongelmajätevarastoon. Puhdasta alumiinijätettä on mm. autoklavoinnissa käytetty folio sen jälkeen kun siitä poistetaan teipit. Näin tekemällä alumiini saadaan uusiokäyttöön. Yritämme järjestää alakerran varastoon paikan alumiinijätteen keräykselle. 3. Jätepakkauksiin - näin teistä valtaosa tekee - on merkittävä selvästi myös yliopiston yksikkö josta jäte tulee: Biocenter, Kliininen tutkimuskeskus (CRC) tai Mikrobiologian laitos. 4. Uusimme juhannuksen jälkeen varaston jätteiden kirjaamisvihkon. Siitä tulee enemmän siirtoasiakirjan vaatimuksia vastaava. Olitte toimineet oikein hyvin. Hyvät BCO Kieppin tilojen ryhmänjohtajat, senioritutkijat ja laboratoriohenkilöstö, Keväällä Taina Pihlajaniemen vetämässä VPJ neuvottelukokouksessa sovimme, että perustamme BCO Kieppi tilojen hallinnointia varten johtoryhmän vastaamaan toiminnasta BCO:n "instituutissa". Perustettavaan johtoryhmään kuuluvat tutkimusryhmien/yksiköiden/corepalveluiden vetäjät ja kustakin henkilöstöryhmästä edustajia. Näitä ovat BCO Kieppitilojen Post Doc, PhD opiskelija, laboratoriohenkilöstön edustaja ja riittävä BCO hallinnon edustus. Tämän pohjalta pyytäisin, että Hallman/Kesäniemi/Vainion/Winqvist ryhmä valitsevat kukin yhden Post Doc ja/tai yhden PhD oppilaan sekä laboratoriohenkilöstöstä yhden edustajan. Edelleen Eklund/Manninen/Eskelinen/Soininen/Sormunen valitsee Post Doc edustajan, kaksi PhD oppilasta ja kaksi laboratoriohenkilöstän edustajaa järjestäytymiskokoukseen. Alumiinifolio /aluminium folio

Terve taas, Useampi henkilö on kysynyt alumiinifoliojätteestä. Se kerätään edelleen talteen ja toimitetaan ongelmajätehuollon kautta sulatettavaksi alumiiniksi. Siis laboratorioista alumiinifoliojäte viedään ongelmajätehuoneeseen, ei ulos metallijätteisiin. Alumiinijätteen voi sijoittaa metalliroskiin - niin kotitalouksia neuvotaan tekemään - mutta keräämällä se erilleen talteen, se voidaan toimittaa 'puhtaana' sulatettavaksi. ------------------------------------- Hi, Since a few persons have asked: aluminium folio waste is still collected separately and taken from the labs to hazardous waste storage. Jälleen jätteistä / hazardous waste again

Huomenta, Tehdään käytänteistä jätteiden varastoon viemisen kanssa pikkuisen yksinkertaisempia - kuitenkin. Ei niitä niin hirveästi vuoden mittaan kerry. Listasin siellä olleet jätteet jo siirtoasiakirjaan, ja selviän vuosittaisten jätteiden kirjaamisesta itse (sopivaa ajankulua pariksi tunniksi sunnuntai-iltapäivänä). Jatketaan jätteiden kirjaamista vihkoon kuin ennenkin, hieman tarkennetuilla ohjeilla vain. Jos laboratoriostanne syntyy paljon jätettä, ryhmän/laboratorion jätevastaava voi halutessaan pitää niistä myös omaksi tiedokseen kirjaa. 1. Jäte pitää vihkossa kuvata riittävän tarkasti: täydellinen nimi tai yksiselitteinen lyhenne selvästi, ja myös muut mukana olevat komponentit pitää mainita vihkossa. Muutoin ne joutuu kirjaamaan erikseen ylös vielä pullon kyljestä. Käytä tarvittaessa kahta tai useampaa vihkon riviä. 2. Quantity-sarakkeessa on annettava tuotujen pakkausten lukumäärä ja yksittäisen pakkauksen koko, esim. 3 pussia, 2 x 1 L pullo, 2 x 5 L (ongelmajätehuollon mukaan pitäisi vielä erotella lasi- ja muovipullot ja kanisterit, mutta eipä sarakkeeseen mahdu - katson itse jätteitä listatessani - ja arvioin pakkausten painot). Kun viette jätteitä varastoon, sijoittakaa mahdollisuuksien mukaan samanlaiset jätteet samaan paikkaan, niinkuin suurimmaksi osaksi näytätte jo tekevänkin. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear all, A simplified version about instructions for taking hazardous waste to the Storage Room. You need not do any other book keeping except add your waste to the booklet in the storage room. You should give enough detailed information in the booklet. 1. Give a complete name for the waste and list also other (non-hazardous) components included in solutions. If needed, use two or more lines. 2. Quantity / package column should include the number of packages you brought, and their description, e.g. 3 bags, 2 x 5 L bottles. If possible, place similar waste to same place on the shelf. Hazardous waste - updated instructions

Hi, Please, find enclosed as an attachment file the updated hazardous waste instructions. There are following changes: Persons in charge in research groups and core facilities have been partly changed. All battery waste is now collected to the same container in the storage room, it is not anymore classified to hazardous and non-hazardous waste. When a waste package/container is transferred to the storage room, you should mark what did you brought there in the booklet on the shelf and the electronic waste file (ask from the person in charge in your group) should be updated.
