Get ready: BCO core facilities start using iLab reservation system

Dear BCO core facility users, most of Biocenter Oulu core facilities will start using iLab reservation system for reserving equipment and other services at the end of March. You are welcome to info events to learn what this means to you as a customer, and meet core facility coordinators to get more iLab-info in specific cores. The info events are on March 11, 9-11, in Kieppi 3rd floor 338B (most cores present, except EM and LM) and on March 20, 9-11, Kieppi 3rd floor 338B (Most cores present except TG). Note! The invoicing system will be included in iLab. Therefore, the customers have to have their invoicing information when making reservations (cost center, project number). There will be instructions about the use of iLab on our web pages. There will be overlapping period when both iLab and Asimov reservation system will be active. 4 th floor Cell culture air ventilation maintenance starts tomorrow

Dear all, ISS will start tomorrow 20.2. air ventilation maintenance in 4th floor cell cultures. Each room will take 0,5 h-1,5 h depending on how may units there are in the room. Please, let me know whether you need to use cell culture tomorrow at certain time. At the moment the marked reservations were the following: 403A, 406A no reservations on Thursday 450B, no reservations on Thursday 452B, no reservation between 13-15 432A, 433A, no reservations, 431A? Very bad lab manners

Who wants to destroy the Eppendorf centrifuge in 4th floor 439A? This morning the inside walls of the centrifuge were covered with plastic? solidified material (see below). Also the plate holders were covered with it. It had taken 1 hour to clean it before scheduled samples could be run with it. And of course, there was no name in the reservation book. This is not acceptable! Everyone signs in! And everybody cleans in case leakage happens. And informs if there are other problems (dropping of holders, strange noise, smell etc.) The centrifuge is used by DNA sequencing core and also other users for delicate samples. In case anything similar happens it will be assigned for Core facility use only. vetokaappien toiminta/hood in the labs function 24/7

Hei, BCO-Kieppi infossa esille tullut asia vetokaappien toiminnasta. Tarkistin asiaa: "Vetokaapit toimivat 24/7. Mitään pakkasrajaa ei ole vetokaapeilla. Perusilmastoinnilla on pakkasraja -20C, jolloin ilmanvaihto alkaa laskea, -30C ilmanvaihto on puoliteholla". FYI the hoods in the labs function 24/7, the temperature outside has no influence on. Only the general air ventilation decreases when temperature is below -20C, when it is -30C, it is half of the usual. terv.
