Terwaspeksi arranges Christmas party on December 7

Hei, The student group Terwaspeksi will arrange morning Christmas party on Wednesday, December 7. The event will begin at 08.00, and will be held at the Kieppi building, lobby. The students will serve us some music and dancing and possibly a small play. The dean of the faculty will also say a few words. After the Terwaspeksi presentations the party will continue at the Medisiina restaurant. We shall have traditional Christmas rice porridge with cinnamon (who will find the almond!). Also glögi and joulutorttu will be served (the star shaped pastries will be baked by the Terwaspeksi members). Mark the date into your calendar and join us for the morning Christmas party. Hei, Tiedekuntamme aktiiviset Terwaspeksiläiset järjestävät jo perinteeksi muodostuneen aamuisen joulujuhlan keskiviikkona, 7. joulukuuta. Tilaisuus alkaa klo 08.00, ja juhlapaikkana toimii kampuksen päärakennuksen, Kiepin, aulatila. Tilaisuudessa on musiikkia, tanssia, ehkä näytelmääkin, ja tiedekunnan dekaani tuo juhlaan tervehdyksensä. Terwaspeksin esitysten jälkeen nautimme Medisiinan väen valmistamaa herkullista riisipuuroa. Tarjolla myös Terwaspeksiläisten leipomia joulutorttuja sekä glögiä lisukkeineen. Laita kalenteriisi puurojuhla 7. joulukuuta ja tule mukaan aamuhämyyn hakemaan itsellesi hyvä mieli. Call for New Research Initiatives for Digital Health profiling theme

Digital Health (DigiHealth) is part of the 5th profiling theme of the University of Oulu. It aims at international breakthroughs in development and application of novel digitalized solutions to predict progression of diseases and in offering personalized therapies in a cost-effective and patient-centric way. There are four different research topics in DigiHealth: DigiHealth1 creates novel, integrated next-generation bioinformatics and biosensor data solutions, DigiHealth2 creates system level architecture for health data management and sustainable communication networks, DigiHealth3 develops medical AI for early detection and diagnosis to support clinical decision making and personalized medicine, and DigiHealth4 offers a novel value chain capability in establishing digital healthcare solutions. DigiHealth opens now a second call for proposals for new short-term research initiatives. The total budget of the call is about 200 000 euros and one project can be up to 50 000 euros. The proposals should: * be based on emphasizing possible future visions and new openings related to DigiHealth * have high scientific potential and connection to the Digihealth's core themes and objectives * advance co-operation and multidisciplinarity and provide additional academic expertise * plan larger project proposals(s) (e.g., for Horizon Europe) as concrete outcomes in addition to the scientific results. The funding can be used to researchers' salary costs and/or other research initiatives and actions (such as equipment, reagents and outsourced services) that support DigiHealth themes. Length of the funding period is one year at maximum from the decision date. The proposal should include at least two PIs from different faculties or different disciplines of the University of Oulu. The team selects the primary Research Unit where the funding will be paid. The number of submitted proposals is restricted to one application per one PI. Reports for the usage of funding will be asked for all the funded projects. The maximum length of the proposal is 3 pages and it should strictly follow the designated Word template. BCO-kieppi "turvakävelyt" 29.11./safety walks Nov.29

Dear BCO-Kieppi people, We will again organize so-called "safety walks" for BCO-Kieppi people who have not yet participated in them. Please, inform your new members. We will walk through our premises and locate the emergency exits, fire alarms, fire extinguishers etc, check the meeting point for emergencies, and talk about safety. Participation to this about 30 min walk is obligatory for everybody. This is organized for your own safety. The next possibilities to participate: November 29, starting at 14.00 in Finnish, and in English starting at 15.00. Starting point for the tours is top of the main staircase 4th floor. See you there! Azure imager / Black tray broken

Hi all, It seems that somebody has used the black tray for the Azure imager as a cutting surface for gels or something. So it's basically ruined now and I have to order a new one. Please don't do that and and also keep the tray clean for other users. Antti
