Hello,
Below is a message from an Italian medical student. I discussed about him earlier with Virpi Parkkila who is responsible for Erasmus exchange programme here in the medical faculty. Giacomo would like to see how we do research here in the North.
Any voluntaries to take him for a short period?
If not - I have a plan... I'll come to talk with you tomorrow (on Monday).
Best wishes
Pekka Kilpeläinen

Gentle doctor Kilpelainen, I'm sorry for the problem with the email system and I still can't understand what happened. However, I send you again my first letter...unfortunately, my timetable is quite busy with trainings and exams and the next two weeks are the only free for me until the end of my exchange period. I hope it's possible for me to attend the laboratory, because it's something I would like to do for me, not for credits or university duty. Best Regards,
Giacomo Zoppellaro
PREVIOUS MESSAGE: Gentle Dr Kilpelainen, Im Giacomo Zoppellaro, an Italian student attending the fourth year of Medicine and Surgery. I live in Treviso, near Venezia, and I study in Padova. Im a 22 year- old boy. My interest in the research started before going to the university. Always interested in scientific topics, I decided to attend the medical school, instead of more specific courses like Molecular Biology or Biotechnology, to have a wider basis of studies. In Italy the first three years of studies are pre-clinical, so, until last year, I have done only courses like Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Histopathology, General Pathology, Physiology, Physiopathology, all passed with good marks. Now Im here in Finland and I wish not to lose the possibilities to see how is a research laboratory in the northern Europe Country. For my last course in Physiopathology I met Professor Ernesto Damiani, who is making research projects about Calcium metabolism in muscular cells and energy metabolism. On spring time Im going to attend his laboratory. For these reason, I would like to see some research oriented in the same direction, and I think the energy metabolism research projects would be nice for me.
Unfortunately my timetable is quite busy I have exams on 31st October, 2nd November, 11th November and 7th December I think it will be good to come from 14th November to 25th November, if its possible. Thank you very much for your kindness. Best Regards
Giacomo Zoppellaro
