Dear all,
As some of the restrictions have now been lifted, we will update our working practices accordingly. However, minimum distance of 2 meters means that there should not be more than 4 persons in the EM lab at the same and only 1 person in TEM room and 2 persons in SEM room.
Following protocol should be followed when bringing samples to the EM lab.
1. When entering the lab leave the samples and the order form on the table 2. Do not leave before laboratory personnel have checked the order form in case they have some additional questions 3. The distance between persons must always be at least two (2) meters
Please note that order form should be electronically filled and printed. Hand-filled forms are often difficult to interpret.
NOTE! You can image your own semi-thin sections if you wish but please ask laboratory personnel when that would be suitable. NOTE! You can process your own samples for negative staining in the EM lab but please ask laboratory personnel when that would be suitable.
Safety protocol for using TEM and SEM
1. Only one (1) person at a time is allowed to be present in the TEM instrument room. If you have received training for the instrument, you can operate it but user training for new users cannot be given
2. Maximum of 2 persons can be present in the SEM room at the same time. If you have received training for the instrument, you can operate it but user training for new users cannot be given
This means that most of the time we will do the imaging for you according to your suggestions as regards to particular cells, organelles, structures, and magnifications. Contact me when you wish to have your samples imaged.
