Dear Researchers, I'm very pleased to invite You to our events in Oulu Aapistie on 17th and 18th of March (please see attachments). On 17th, we will have a seminar on AlphaScreen technology and applications at 12.00 in Aapistie 7 H108. In short, AlphaScreen is an excellent technology to run ELISA assays in a homogenous format, where small sample volume is of interest. The technology is sensitive and allows also detection of big weak binding partners (unlike FRET, which has the limitation of size to allow efficient energy transfer). There are a lot of ready-made kits available, but a lot of researchers also set up their assays with their own antibodies. ELISA, protein-protein interaction studies, Kinase research, Protease activity..Lunch is provided. Please sign in for the seminar by 11th of March so that I know how many we will be. Please also inform of the food restrictions. On 18th we will have a City-Lab exhibition, and I will show the Labchip DS instrument there. I will have the unit with me in Oulu the whole week and I'll be happy to show it at your laboratory also. In short, Labchip DS instrument is like a HTS NanoDrop. You will pipette 2 uL samples into capillary including microtiterplates. In my eyes, there are 5 main benefits of this instrument compared to the traditional NanoDrop -all samples can be pipetted simultaneously in the plate without risk of evaporation since the sample will get into the capillary -blank wells are individual wells, no risk of having some extra on those samples due to miss handling during the sample analyses. -since the measurement is done in a very tiny capillary, the linear range of the instrument is app. 0-200 OD. Very seldom additional dilutions of your samples is needed. -one plate is measured at around 6 minutes. -if the instrument has also cDROP-algorithm, there is a possibility to convert the "NanoDrop" data into "Picogreen" data. No reagents needed, but the spectral shape and the algorithm will do this data analyses. Also, if cDROP algorithm is there, the software will give you indication of eg. phenol amount on the extracted DNA samples. Also other "contaminants" can be evaluated. Like mentioned, I will be the week in Oulu and I'm happy to show the Labchip DS instrument also at your lab. Please let me know if you would like to test your samples, and I'll stop by at your lab as well. I hope to see many of you. Best Regards, Jaana
