Dear Scientists of BCO;
We will have 1-2.6.2010 in Oulu the "Pathology training program in disease modeling (60 cr)" cource. The programme is a nationwide training programme for researchers with a higher university degree. The training takes 2-2.5 years to complete, and it started autumn 2009. Although, only 19 students have been accepted to the programme, the lectures during the contact teaching days are free for all.
Oulu training period - 1.-2.6.2010
Title of the section: Human gastrointestinal tract pathology - mouse as a biomedical model organism; modeling development and cancer - case studies
Organizers: Turku Center for Disease Modeling (TCDM), University of Turku and Palmenia Centre for Continuing Education, University of Helsinki, University of Oulu, Dept. of Diagnostics and Institute of Biomedicine, Dept. of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Biocenter Oulu
Objectives of the course:
To learn about human gastrointestinal tract biology and pathology
How to address cancer development and diagnostics in the mouse
To learn via examples how the mouse can be used as a model to address certain biomedically relevant questions
