Dear Life scientists in the Oulu campuses,
It is my pleasure to send you our scientific program for the fall 2009. I herebyt thank the speakers of telling us about their experiments.
We have again exiting time ahead of us, new discoveries, processes, mechanisms, interactions that set up certain biological phenomena up ! We will start 24.9. with the talk of Dr. Tony Heape, the current graduate school coordinator of Biocenter Oulu. Tony will tell us about about the nerve cells, how they get myelinated to speed up neuronal signalling.
Hope you will enjoy the fall program and that you will learn new, relevant things about the functions in the life forms. All informed are warmly wellcome to join the groud and distribute the program.
The picture that you see as the background in the program a microsurgically prepared ureteric bud of an E11.5 mouse embryo. The ureteric bud generates the collecting duct and uereter of the mature kidney and during its branching it induces via Wnt-9b signalling nephrogenesis in the adjacent mesenchymal cells to form nephrons.
With best wishes,
Seppo
