Thus, in order to facilitate the feedback process in our group, we have put together two letters, supported by signatures from multiple people. Both documents will be sent together to the Academy of Finland. One details the suggested improvements of Plan S itself that Academy should propose through its membership in cOAlition S. The other one puts things in perspective from the point of view of Finnish science under the rule of Plan S. In addition to saving collectively dozens of hours of individual writing, I believe there is a benefit in expressing our shared concerns as a larger community. It does not limit your options for individual feedback if you feel there is an omission in our statement. The two letters are attached and I would like to present you the opportunity to join them. Please consider this, forward them into your group and if you or someone from your research unit feels that one (or both) of these letters expresses your views in sufficient extend and clarity, you are free to join the list of signatories (I can come to you, logistics can be arranged). Requested information is just your name and position (Prof./Postdoc/PhD, etc..) written by your own hand, no signatures are collected. For transparency, all signatories will be included in the copy of the e-mail sent to Academy. I would like to wrap it up by the end of the next week (1st February 17:00 Finnish time). I believe that our feedback for the Academy has a potential for making an impact. While the whole Plan S is receiving very similar criticism from all around the world, the Academy's pool of feedback is much smaller and therefore every voice matters there. In addition, by being a smaller body, it is easier to influence than EU-wide consortium, which can in turn be influenced by Academy. Since cOAlition S intends to make the received feedback public and allows specifically only individual or institutional feedback, I am leaving this option for your own. I would still like to encourage you to take part in that. In addition, if you feel like that, you might also consider supporting an international Open Letter, currently counting more than 1600 signatures (https://sites.google.com/view/plansopenletter/home). Credits for 2 lanes of HiSeq runs in FIMM

Hi NGS users, I have received credits from Illumina for running 2 lanes of HiSeq paired-end (2x100bp) in FIMM sequencing facility to be used in the first quarter of 2019. As I moved to Australia, I won’t be using FIMM facility for sequencing. If you are planning to use FIMM for sequencing (or have used FIMM but not processed the invoices) within couple of months, please contact me so we can arrange the payment to be done through those credits which I received from Illumina. Please let me know if you need more information. Tässä vuoden 2019-2020 opinto-oppaaseen tulevat opintojaksokuvaukset opettajille korjattaviksi. Korjaukset ja päivitykset on toimitettava minulle sähköisessä muodossa to 28.2.2019 mennessä. OPINTOJAKSOKUVAUKSET sisältävät tiedostot: - opas2019_2020kuvauksetSuomiOpettajille.docx (opintojaksojen kuvaukset suomeksi) - opas2019_2020kuvauksetEnglishOpettajille.docx (opintojaksojen kuvaukset englanniksi) Muistakaa nimetä vastuuopettaja/-opettajat kaikille opintojaksoille. Käykää search-toiminnolla läpi myös oma nimenne tiedostoista sekä KUKA-kohdat, jotta varmistetaan, että nimi on oikeiden opintojaksojen yhteydessä mainittu ja puuttuvat nimet lisätään. Opetussuunnitelmasta poistuvat opintojaksot on merkitty punaisella ja yliviivattu. Kopioikaa omien vastuukurssienne kurssikuvaukset (suomen ja englanninkieliset) omaksi tiedostoksi peräkkäin, tehkää muutokset siihen ja lähettäkää se minulle. Älkää lähettäkö näitä isoja alkuperäistiedostoja takaisin! Käyttäkää tekstissä värejä (ei wordin kommentti ja jäljitä muutokset -toimintoa), jotta erotan muutoskohdat, ettei kaikkia tekstikohtia tarvitse turhaan verrata ja kopioida takaisin weboodiin (<- iso työ!). Olen tehnyt tiedostoon pohjatyönä mm. väärien koodien korjaamista, opettajien lisäämistä, virheellisten tekstien oikomista sekä huomioita Erja Vaaralaa varten. Preliminary information on the Academy of Finland FIRI 2019 call and the University's internal application procedure Internal deadline of the University: 8th April 2019 The Academy of Finland research infrastructure call FIRI 2019 will open in April and it will close in mid-May. In the FIRI 2019 call you can apply for funding for major national research infrastructures included in the Finnish Roadmap (call 1) and new openings and / or other infrastructures outside the Finnish Roadmap (call 2). INTERNAL APPLICATION PROCEDURE As required by the Academy of Finland, all applicants must attach to their application a prioritisation list, in which the University of Oulu lists its applying infrastructures in order of preference. For this reason, all applicants must submit their FIRI application by 8.4.2019 for internal prioritization.The Research Council will process the applications and the Management Group of Research will make the proposal of prioritisation to the Rector. The applicants will receive the prioritisation letter signed by the Rector. Detailed instructions on the internal call will be published in Notio after the publication of the call text.
