The event for Faculty of Technology and Faculty of Science will be organized on Tuesday 11th of June from 9:00 to 11:00 in L8. The deadlines for submitting a proposal is in August, 2019 (Advanced), October 2019 (Starting) early February 2020 (Consolidator). The workshop aims to provide researchers with a good understanding of: the evaluation criteria and how to analyse them; what makes an excellent PI according to the reviewers of the different domains/panels; how to write a competitive scientific proposal considering panel specifics and type of project. Focus of the workshop will be on the ERC scientific proposal. Therefore, the participants are expected to familiarise themselves with the general ERC participation rules and eligibility criteria beforehand. Hei kaikki Lähinnä asialistalla vanhentuvat työasemat. Tietohallinto poistaa tietoliikenneverkosta 14.1.2020 mennessä ne vanhat Windows-työasemat, joita ei voida päivittää Windows 10 –käyttöjärjestelmään: meillä näitä koneita on 33 kpl (ks. Excel lista; käyttäjätieto osin vanhentunut). Meillä on aikaisemmin pystytty kierrättämään vanhoja koneita jatko-opiskelijoille ja tohtoritutkijoille. Meillä ei ole tässä tilanteessa mahdollisuutta hankkia/liisata laitteita jatko-opiskelijoille tai postdoceille vaan ryhmien pitää huolehtia laitteiden hankkimisesta. Keskustellaan tästä yksikköpalaverissa. Dear all On the agenda are expiring workstations. By January 14, 2020, the IT administration will remove those old Windows workstations that cannot be upgraded to Windows 10: we have 33 of those computers (see Excel list; user information partially obsolete). We have previously been able to recycle old machines for postgraduate students and doctoral candidates. In this situation, we do not have the opportunity to acquire / lease compters for postgraduate students or postdocs, i.e. the research groups must take care of purchasing the equipment. Let's discuss on this in the unit meeting. Jouni

Teaching feed-back , in Finnish only, sorry... hei, tässä eilisen opetuksen palautetilaisuuden esitykset. Syntaksis-kilta (Veera Hiltunen pääosin) oli tehnyt palautekyselyn ja siitä yhteenvedon. Palaute oli yleisesti varsin positiivista. Omaopettajatoimintaa pitää kuitenkin lisätä, samoin opiskelijat kaipaavat enemmän sanallista palautetta tehtävistä ja tenteistäkin. Keskusteltiin myös raporttien ja poissaolojen korvaustehtävien palautuksen viivästymisestä. Opiskelijat olivat sitä mieltä, että kunhan vain deadlinet ja käytännöt on ilmoitettu tiukasti kurssilla, myöhästymisistä voi sakottaa alentamalla arvosanaa. Biokemiallakin on hyvin tiukka käytäntö.
