As academic researchers, you are most likely constantly seeking opportunities to enhance your research capabilities, expand your networks, and push the boundaries of knowledge. One avenue through which you can achieve
these goals is by hosting a Marie Sk³odowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellow. This initiative enriches the research teams of our university and offers many benefits for you and your research endeavors.
Who can apply for MSCA PF?
Interested researchers apply
together with a host organization. The scheme covers all research areas. It is targeted at researchers with a doctoral degree and a
maximum of 8 years of research experience after the PhD by the time of the call deadline. Mobility is a must in the MSCA: the researcher must not have resided in the country of the beneficiary, in this case Finland, for more than 12 months in the 36
months before the call deadline.
How much?
Usually, the duration of the project is 24 months. Last year the total EU funding per project was around 195 000 – 215 000 euros.
Nurturing Emerging Talent
Welcoming an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow into your research team provides a unique opportunity to nurture emerging talent. These fellows, driven by a passion for research and armed with fresh perspectives, invigorate our academic environment. Their innovative
ideas and diverse skill sets can enrich your research projects, contributing to the intellectual vibrancy of your team.
Facilitating Knowledge Exchange
Collaboration lies at the heart of impactful research. By collaborating with an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow, you can facilitate a two-way exchange of knowledge and expertise. These fellows can bring novel methodologies, techniques, and insights, enriching your
research aspirations. In turn, you can share your expertise, fostering a dynamic learning environment for both parties.
Cultivating Strategic International Partnerships
Hosting an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow strengthens our strategic partnerships and expands our university’s research networks. Through collaboration with fellows from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, you have the opportunity to forge meaningful partnerships
with institutions and researchers worldwide. These collaborations can enhance the scope and impact of your research, open doors to future collaborative opportunities abroad, and help elevate your research team’s visibility on the global stage. In this respect,
we recommend that you be proactive and initiate collaboration with a top research group in your field abroad.
Exploring New Research Avenues
The presence of an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow often catalyses the exploration of new research avenues. These fellows bring fresh perspectives and expertise, inspiring you to delve into new areas of inquiry. The interdisciplinary nature of these collaborations
fosters innovation and creativity, leading to the development of groundbreaking research projects.
Professional Development
For supervisors, hosting an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow offers valuable opportunities for professional development. Mentoring and guiding these fellows enhances supervisory skills and fosters leadership and management capabilities. Additionally, hosting an MSCA
Postdoctoral Fellow is a prestigious addition to a supervisor's CV, highlighting your commitment to fostering talent and advancing research excellence.
In conclusion, hosting an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow is a transformative experience for you and your research team. It offers unparalleled opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and professional development,
ultimately enhancing the quality and impact of your research aspirations.
