Tarkistin vielä Aijalta aikataulun, kun tämä AXA fellowship tuli niin kiireellä (joskin ilmoitus oli ollut Notiossa syyskuussa) . Hakemusten deadline on tällä viikolla – tänään ei ole pakko toimittaa hakemusta. 

 

Biologian puolelta varmasti löytyisi tutkijoita, joita asia voisi kiinnostaa? Hakemuksen pituus pari sivua ja rahoitus kohdistettu postdoceille, joilla ei ole pysyvää työsuhdetta.

Internal call for AXA Research Fund post-doctoral fellowship applications

Deadline: October 24, 2016

AXA is an international insurance company that has founded AXA Research Fund. The mission of the AXA Research Fund is to fund academic research dedicated to bettering our understanding of important hazards, risks and threats and our current global societal challenges within four clusters:

  1. Environmental Risks: Climate change. Natural hazards & disaster risk reduction. Urbanization & Resilience, Transport and Road Safety. Sustainable Food and Water Management.
  2. Life Risks: Ageing, dependency and long-term care. Chronic diseases. Well-being and prevention. Public Health & healthcare systems.
  3. Socio-economic Risks: Insurance and its influence on the Macroeconomic environment. Geopolitics and the dynamics of international relations. Sustainability of public & private welfare systems. Future of financial markets (low interest rate environment, climate economics…).
  4. "The Fourth Industrial Revolution": The technological revolution's Social & economic impact (Medical digitization, Health innovation, Energy transition, Finance, Internet of Things, Social Networks…). Tools and novel approaches to scientific modelling (Bioinformatics, Data Science…). Data privacy & Cybersecurity, ethics, values & regulation. Artificial intelligence & learning. Human behaviors and cyber-physical interactions socioeconomic risks, environmental  risks, life risks and the "Fourth Industrial Revolution".

In 2017 the AXA Research Fund will be offering up to twenty-five (25) Post-Doctoral Fellowships to outstanding researchers. Each grant can be up to one hundred and thirty thousand euros (€130,000) at most and for a duration of eighteen (18) to twenty-four (24) month period. Based on the AXA's pre-selection, University of Oulu can propose 0 – 2 applicants for the fellowships.

Eligible candidates:

  • Only candidates without a permanent academic position are eligible.
  • The candidate must have been awarded his/her first PhD (or equivalent doctoral degree) before the beginning of the Post-Doctoral grant and within the 3 years preceding the deadline for the submission of their research proposal (The eligibility period may be extended up to 6 years, see AXA application guidelines ).
  • For candidates presented by University of Oulu, past, present or planned international mobility is mandatory.

Instructions for the internal applications:

For the internal application we ask interested research groups to submit a short description of their research and propose a candidate by October 24, 2016.

To get the best possible candidates as applicants, the interested research groups are asked to submit candidate's CV, a max two (2) pages description of the candidate and the host at the University of Oulu as follows:

  1. Post-Doctoral adviser's name (at the University of Oulu), e-mail and unit.
  2. Candidate's name, degree (with date, university, and country), current e-mail and full working address.
  3. Short description of the research planned in the hosting research group at the University of Oulu.
  4. Candidate's CV (in addition to the two pages)

The application (Word document) should be submitted to Strategic Research Services to Aija Ryyppö (aija.ryyppo@oulu.fi) as an attachment of an e-mail latest on October 24, 2016.
