Dear colleagues,
instead of the usual noon slot, this week's Thursday seminar is a special double session: on the 7th of Dec, 2pm - 4pm, Tellus Backstage, we will have an interdisciplinary seminar on the effects of early life experiences through the lenses of evolutionary biology and ecology, psychological and sociocultural studies and medical sciences.
We have two very interesting talks and plenty of time for discussion: Prof. Julia Jäkel (Univ. Oulu, Faculty of education and psychology) on "Biological and sociocultural risk and resilience from infancy to adulthood" "I will present examples of long-term developmental outcomes following biological and sociocultural early life risks such as preterm birth, early regulatory problems, institutional deprivation, or immigrant background. Dr. Emma Vitikainen (Dept. of Biosciences, Univ. of Helsinki and FinnBrain project, Univ. Turku) on "Early life experiences and ageing: an evolutionary approach" "The environment and conditions that an individual faces during early life have profound consequences for its later life.
