Oulun yliopiston ylioppilaskunnan jatko-opiskelijajaosto järjestää ammattiliittoinfon väitöskirjatutkijoille tai jatko-opiskeluihin suuntaaville. Tilaisuudessa ammattiliitot ja paikalliset Oulun yliopiston henkilöstöjärjestöt esittäytyvät ja kertovat tutkijoiden edunvalvonnasta. Tapahtumassa keskitytään erityisesti tohtorikoulutettavien kohtaamiin asioihin, kuten rahoituksen epävarmuuteen, apurahoihin, pätkätöihin ja eri alojen erikoispiirteisiin.
Tapahtumaan osallistuu Akavalaisista liitoista Tieteentekijöiden Liitto, Tekniikan Akateemiset (TEK), Yliopistojen opetusalan liitto (YLL), Luonnon- ympäristö- ja metsätieteilijöiden liitto (Loimu) ja Ekonomit. Tapahtumassa on mukana myös paikalliset henkilöstöyhdistykset Oulun yliopiston Akateemiset, Oulun yliopiston opetusalan yhdistys ja Oulun yliopiston TEKkiläiset ry.

In what things can the unions help me in? Who negotiates and gives advice on my working conditions and salary? Which union should I choose?
The Doctoral Students’ Section of the Oulu University Student Union will organize a union info event on 29.5.2018 at 14.30-18.00 in the lecture hall L2 for PhD Researchers and people seeking to enroll in postgraduate studies. In this event the academic labour unions and the local university staff associations will introduce themselves and discuss the advocacy of researchers. Focus is on topics that doctoral students often run into, such as uncertainty of funding, grants, shortness of contracts/funding and the peculiarities of different fields.
The participating unions from Akava (the ceiling organization of the unions of highly educated people) include the Finnish Unions of University Researchers and Teachers (FUURT ≈ Researchers Union), Academic Engineers and Architects in Finland (TEK), the Union for University Teachers and Researchers in Finland (YLL ≈ Lecturers Union, part of OAJ), the Union of Professionals in Natural, Environmental and Forestry Sciences (Loimu) and The Finnish Business School Graduates (Ekonomit). Local staff organizations in the University of Oulu; The University of Oulu Academics (UOA), The association for the teaching sector of the University of Oulu and TEK of the Oulu University will also be present.
