Dear colleagues,
a reminder: Biology Thursday seminar continues today, 13th Arp,
on zoom at 12:15 (link below) with
Dr. Silva Uusi-Heikkilä, Univ. Jyväskylä, on
”Fish populations under multiple stressors”
Silva’s work combines ecological and evolutionary experiments, mathematical models and next generation sequencing technology to study the effects human induced disturbances on fish populations,

Abstract:
Fish populations today experience multiple human-induced stressors simultaneously, such as climate change, pollution, and fishing. Studying the phenotypic and genetic effects of these stress factors is notoriously difficult in nature. An experimental approach
might therefore provide us with some answers of how size-selectively harvested (fisheries selection) populations respond to other stressors in their environment.
