Dear Colleague,

Welcome to the next Foresight Workshop, “Use of Natural Resources with Net Positive Climate Impact,” organized by the Kvantum Institute. The event will be held on October 10th, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, at the Linnanmaa campus in the Restaurant Julinia Garden (5D110) and the meeting rooms Meirami and Kumina.

This workshop will support our university's updated strategy focused on “Mitigating Climate Change and Safeguarding Biodiversity.”  Research Director Jussi Paakkari will present an overview and status of the research made in the University of Oulu concerning this theme, and the following presentations will guide us to the long term national and EU wide policies of the natural resources. We will explore the emerging research topics within the scope of the workshop and try to create positive impact through multi- and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Two keynote speakers will discuss captivating topics:

• Tanja Suni, Head of Exploitation and Impact at CLIC Innovation Oy, with a speech titled “Systemic Solutions in Addressing the Triple Crisis.”
• Saija Luukkanen, Professor, Oulu Mining School, presenting “A Raw Material Perspective on Green Transition - Expectations vs. Realism.”
