The Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering of the Academy of Finland, the Swedish Research Council Formas, the Ministry of Agriculture
and Forestry of Finland, the Ministry of the Environment of Finland and the Walter Ahlström Foundation jointly open a targeted call for applications focusing on new and sustainable value chains from forest raw material. The call encompasses all types of wood-based
products, such as building components, furniture, textiles, packaging and other new materials, but not bioenergy and biofuels.
Funding is available for consortia where the consortium partners are from Finland and Sweden. The consortia are led by an early-career researcher
with no more than ten years since their first doctoral degree. The joint application must include at least one and up to two consortium partners from each country.
More detailed guidelines will be posted in the call text that will be published in August 2021 on the Academy of Finland’s website. A webinar about
the call will be organised on 17 September 2021.
