Propose the next profiling theme for the University of Oulu by October 18 2019 (Profi6) The Academy of Finland will open the next call supporting the profiling of universitieshttp://www.aka.fi/en/research-and-science-policy/university-profiling/(Profi 6 call) in January 2020. The aim of the funding is to support and speed up the strategic profiling of Finnish universities in order to improve their capacity for enhancing the quality of research. The University of Oulu will submit one application for this call. The application will describe a profiling area connected to the university's strategy and an action plan for reaching the desired objective. Each profiling theme will be evaluated and scored individually. The evaluation will assess what is added value of research in the proposed profiling themes at national level. In this call the university of Oulu will apply funding only for a few themes that are connected to the current profiling themes. We are now inviting researchers to propose themes and measures for which
· utilise the 6G Flagship and connect new application areas to the current research of the Flagship and therefore strengthen digital transformation; the main focus is to develop knowledge in application areas (verticals) in collaboration with the Flagship, or
· strengthen and deepen or refocus the current profiling area(s) or link the current profiling areas to each other. The proposals should address the global challenges of the UN´s 2030 agenda for sustainable developmenthttps://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development-goals/. Leave your proposal through the linked Webropol query by 18 October 2019. Getting Ready for Horizon Europe -workshop 5.11 with Dr. Sean McCarthy The Next Framework Programme (Horizon Europehttps://ec.europa.eu/info/horizon-europe-next-research-and-innovation-framework-programme_en) will be launched in 2021. The planning for this Programme started at the beginning of 2017. This half-day workshop has been designed to help Directors, Researchers and Senior Support Staff to monitor (or influence) the development of the Programme. This will be important when preparing strategies for the period 2021 to 2027. The workshop covers the following items: - the formal process for preparing the Next Framework Programme, - the Organisations that will be consulted in the preparation - the documents that will used at the different phases of the preparation. - the issues (Political, Economic, Social and Technical) that will influence the content
This highly recommended workshop is based on Seán McCarthy’s ongoing analysis of the debate and 38 years working with the previous 8 Framework Programmes.
