Indicative size: €43,500/year for individual researcher, €57,000/year for researcher with family.

Programme for Development Research (DEVELOP2) 2023 DL 5.4.2023
The Academy of Finland and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland open a call for applications under the Academy Programme for Development Research (DEVELOP2).
Development research describes and interprets dimensions of development, helps understand obstacles to development and finds ways in which those obstacles can be removed. In practical terms, the aim is to produce knowledge that can help solve problems related
to, for example, health, natural resources, the economy and education. Research-based knowledge is also needed about how international, national and cultural systems work and about the limitations that these systems present to and the opportunities they offer
for development.
Sustainable
Blue Economy Partnership DL 14.4.2023
The Academy of Finland and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry co-fund the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership, a European partnership under the European Commission’s research and innovation
framework programme Horizon Europe. The Partnership has pre-announced its first joint transnational call, which addresses five priority areas. The Academy of Finland and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will fund Finnish research projects under two
priority areas: “Climate-neutral, environmentally sustainable, and resource-efficient blue food and feed” and “Green transition of Blue Food production”.
QuantERA
ERA-NET Cofund in Quantum Technologies DL 11.5.2023
The call focuses on the topics of 1) Quantum Phenomena and Resources and 2) Applied Quantum Science . In general, the conditions and restrictions on Academy Projects apply to the funding. Eligible
consortium must have a minimum of three eligible partners requesting funding in at least three distinct countries.
FIRI 2023 research infrastructure call: internal procedure at University
of Oulu
The Academy of Finland is opening funding calls in April for national research infrastructures, aimed at roadmap infrastructures, international RI memberships and non-roadmap
infrastructures. An internal procedure applies to all candidates in coordinator and partner roles.
The Academy of Finland requires all host organizations to prioritize their applications and this process starts with an internal idea call.
All applicants will need to complete a
Webropol questionnaire by 22 March to be included. Further

ERA-MIN3 JOINT TRANSNATIONAL CALL 2023,

ERA-MIN3 (Raw Materials for the Sustainable Development and the Circular Economy)
The call is targeted at joint projects. The joint project must fulfil the ERA-MIN3 eligibility criteria for a consortium. Participating countries and regions include several EU countries and
also Turkey, Canada-Québec and South Africa.

Interreg Aurora

The second call for project proposals of the Interreg Aurora Programme 2021-2027 is open from 1 February until 28 March 2023. All
Priorities and Specific Objectives will be open for project applications both for EU-funding and Norwegian IR-funding. In the second call, project applications in all Priorites in
sub-area Sápmi are of particular interest and in sub-area Aurora project applications in Priority 2 addressing the development of green and sustainable transition are of particular interest.

high-level, international scientific research as well as arts and culture. The Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation accepts grant applications every day of the year. Decisions to award grants are made by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, which meets four
times a year in March, May, September and December. Average processing time for applications is 4–6 months
The Foundation for Municipal Development

State Subsidy For Organizing International Conferences
And National Seminars DL 28.2.2023
The state subsidy is intended for organizing both international conferences and national seminars. Among international research conferences, priority is given for recurrent events
of international scientific organisations.
National seminars, workshops and other meetings receiving funding should reinforce research, promote discussion on science policy and increase contacts between researchers and their stakeholders. Funding can be granted also for events aiming at assessing the
status or the research capacity of a certain field of research, as well as the need for further research and new research programs.
Tandem Industry Academia Postdoc call DL

There are no specific research themes for the call, but the Foundation is keen to support new innovative approaches, multidisciplinary
cooperation and new consortia between academic and industrial partners that can produce high-impact outcomes for business and industry and for the economy as a whole.
The application must be filed by the research team's PI together with the industrial supervisor representing the industrial partner.
The PI should be a senior-level researcher.
Funding will be granted to a university or research institute for the purpose of hiring a postdoctoral researcher for two years. The postdoctoral researcher will spend one year working at an academic organisation and one year in the industrial partner's organisation.
The researcher will remain in the academic partner's employee throughout the two-year period.

The Fulbright-University of Oulu Scholar will conduct research, or conduct research and teach, at any of the eight faculties, four focus institutes, or regional units of the University
of Oulu. The Fulbright-University of Oulu Scholar Award is jointly funded by the University of Oulu and the Fulbright Finland Foundation.
The award is available for visits of 3-9 months, and it includes a monthly grant of 4 500 EUR, a one-time travel allowance of 1 800 USD, a residence permit allowance, housing, work facilities, administrative
support, orientation, and support services.

Sklodowska Curie: Postdoctoral Fellowships The next call will open 12 April, DL September 2023
The objective of PFs is to support researchers’ careers and foster excellence in research. The Postdoctoral Fellowships
action targets researchers holding a PhD who wish to carry out their research activities abroad, acquire new skills and develop their careers. PFs help researchers gain experience in other countries, disciplines and non-academic sectors.
There are 2 types of Postdoctoral Fellowships:
European Postdoctoral Fellowships. They are open to researchers moving within
Europe or coming to Europe from another part of the world to pursue their research career. These fellowships take place in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country and can last between 1 and 2 years.
Researchers of any nationality can apply.
Global Postdoctoral Fellowships. They fund the mobility of researchers outside Europe.
The fellowship lasts between 2 to 3 years, of which the first 1 to 2 years will be spent in a non-associated Third Country, followed by a mandatory return phase of 1 year to an organisation based in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country.
Only nationals or long-term residents of the EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries can apply.

Support for ERC Starting Grant and Synergy Grant 2024
European Research Council Starting Grants (ERC StG) are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators with 2-7 years of experience since the award of their PhD. StG
Call 2024 is expected to open in July (DL October 2023).
ERC Synergy Grants (ERC
SyG) support a group of two to maximum four Principal Investigators working together and bringing different skills and resources to tackle ambitious research problems. The PIs can be from same or different institutions and no specific eligibility window regarding
the academic age is required. SyG Call 2024 is expected to open in July (DL November 2023).
The University of Oulu wants to encourage its researchers to apply for ERC and will provide a support scheme for selected applicants to prepare for the 2024 Call. All
researchers planning to submit ERC Starting or ERC Synergy Grant 2024 can express their interest to be included in the support process by answering to a short Webropol
questionnaire by 31.5.2023.
