The Academy of Finland has changed its call schedules and the review of applications. The next application round for
Academy Project Funding, Academy Research Fellowships and Clinical Researcher Funding
will open in November 15 2023 ( not in September as in previous years). The call
closes on 17 January 2024. The funding decisions will be made by June 2024. The calls for applications for mobility funding based on international agreements will open in autumn according to the usual
schedule.
The titles and descriptions of the review panels will be published in September 2023 at the latest. The call text, including the application guidelines and the details on the review criteria and the review procedure,
will be published in late October 2023. Further information
Academy of Finland planning new call for autumn 2023 to support researchers from Ukraine
The Academy of Finland is preparing a new call for applications for funding to support researchers from Ukraine and
invite them to Finland to do research. Provided that the plans for the funding are realised, the
call could be opened in autumn 2023.
The aim is to support researchers at risk whose work in Ukraine has been prevented by Russia’s attack and who need physical protection to carry out their research.
The funding is applied for by a researcher based in Finland, and they must have secured a commitment from the site of research. The funding covers the invitee’s travel and living expenses in
Finland, not the costs of the research work. A similar call was last open in February 2023.In that call, priority was given to applicants who were still in Ukraine. The main focus of the new call for applications will be to support researchers who have fled
Ukraine and have already arrived in Finland or another country.
The call will be confirmed in June and more details will be made available on the Academy of Finland’s website.

The European Research Council (ERC) funds excellent principal investigators to pursue ground-breaking research through four core funding schemes (namely, Starting Grants, Consolidator
Grants, Advanced Grants and Synergy Grants). ERC has yearly calls and the Work Programme (WP) 2024 is expected to be announced in July 2023.
To provide preliminary information and help researchers start preparing their proposals, Research and Project Services
is organizing an ERC Call 2024 Online-Training with Yellow Research. The online training will include two live webinars with Yellow Research expert Lotte Jaspers. In addition, the registered
participants will have access to video tutorials and online materials supporting the proposal preparation.
28.06.2023 @9:30-12:00
Webinar 1
will focus on creating the right mindset for submitting a proposal, covering the ERC objectives and evaluation criteria, what the panels expect, how to strategically approach the design of the project,
and how to generate the convincing argumentation that will allow the reviewers to understand the feasibility of your ambitious project.
30.06.2023 @9:30-12:00
Webinar 2 will guide participants systematically through the different parts
of the proposal writing, addressing the key elements for writing the CV-part, extended synopsis and B2.
The combination of the two webinars will provide a roadmap to submission tackling any stumbling blocks in writing your ERC grant. The remote access to the additional materials allows you to be flexible
and use the materials while planning and preparing your proposal.
Register your participation to the
online training by 20 June 2023. You will then receive the Zoom links to attend the event and have the opportunity to ask your questions for Lotte Jaspers beforehand.
The speaker in the event will be Simona Romagnoli from the ERC
Executive Agency. The webinar will be held on the MS Teams platform in English. Please register at latest 28 August 2023.
Welcome to the Interreg Aurora info event on Tuesday 29.08.2023 at 13.00 in Tellus Backstage.
