Hi all,
a recap from Friday’s unit meeting, where concerns about the clarity of orientation procedures of new employees were brought up –
important to read if you are a line manager or a PI, or a new employee!
All new employees need to go through orientation. This has several parts: the general orientation through university’s online materials, HR organized welcome sessions and the official orientation session run by
Marjut Saastamoinen from the faculty admin. When a PI has new people starting, ask me and I will let Marjut know and she will inform them about the next sessions.
The unit and task specific orientations are in principle the duty of the line manager, but as the project PIs of the employee are much better informed about task specific details pf each employee, these have to
be in practice carried out by the PIs, except for the evaluation of requirement and performance levels. The PI makes sure that the necessary steps are taken and the appropriate forms are filled in Mepco (instructions in the links below) and into the Ecology
and genetics own orientation form (attached, can also be found in the shared folders S:\Biologia\Yhteiset\Ecogen_perehdytyslomake_2022.docx) and forwarded to the line manager and head of unit.
