The Biology Journal club starts in September, and
we are looking for teachers to hold sessions there. A session lasts max. 1h30, to discuss 1-3 scientific articles, their contents and their writing. Students and staff are all welcome to attend the sessions,
with students able to earn credits from it. Each session will focus either on a topic (e.g. current perspective in plant ecology, wildlife genetics, ...), a method (e.g. specific statistical method, trending analysis tool, ..), or on broader scientific writing
tips. Each session will have its own topic, so holding a session
requires minimal preparation for only1 topic/method of your choice. Holding a session means that you will provide the readings 2 weeks in advance to the students (upload articles pdf
on the Moodle page), and lead the discussion during the session's time slot.
We encourage every research group to have a session so that the Journal Club reflects the diversity of the research done at our Unit. Doctoral Researchers are also encouraged to hold/co-lead a session, and this is a great opportunity for non-finnish
speakers to have teaching hours!
If you are interested in holding a session, please reply to this email and write the Session's Date and Topic you would like to hold. Several people can hold a single session.
