A reminder:

Biology Thursday seminar continues on site in room MA335, Thu 8th May 12:15,

with Dr. Jenni Prokkola, Academy Research fellow, Natural Resources Institute Finland , on
Our precious in peril: physiological and evolutionary impacts of heatwaves on Atlantic salmon”

Heatwaves have devastating effects on aquatic organisms and ecosystems. The challenges of understanding heatwave-related fitness costs are exacerbated in diadromous species, such as Atlantic salmon, due to their complex life cycles, and already widespread population declines. I will discuss the physiological capacity of salmon to cope with heatwaves and its potential genetic associations to life-history variation.
