Subject: Postdoc position about earthworm effects on boreal forest plant-soil interactions

Dear colleagues,

I am, in collaboration with Dr. Gesche Blume-Werry, looking for a Postdoc (2 years) to work in a project focusing on earthworm effects on plants and soils in northern (boreal)  ecosystems. The position will be located at Umeå University (Sweden), with (experimental) fieldwork at SLU in Uppsala (Sweden).

The idea of this position is to investigate how a potential invasion of burrowing earthworms into northern Swedish soils will affect plant-soil-interactions and ecosystem processes. The specific focus of this postdoctoral position will be developed together with the candidate, based on their skills and interests, and could include (belowground) plant traits, soil food webs (incl. fungi and bacteria), or carbon or nitrogen cycling. Possibilities for related fieldwork in Abisko (subarctic Sweden) also exist.

The deadline for application is 25th May 2023

More information about the position can be found via the link above, and application goes also via this web portal. Please contact Gesche.Blume-Werry@slu.se or me if you have any questions.

Please forward this to any relevant candidates. My apologies for any cross-postings.

Best wishes

Eva Krab
