POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER POSITION

in Arctic biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, starting as soon as possible (but no later than spring 2022) for 2 years, with option for prolongation.

Are you interested in Arctic ecosystems and their current and future changes? Do you have a background in earth system science, ecology, remote sensing, biogeosciences or in a related field and are experienced in (spatial) statistical analyses and programming? Then our postdoc position might be attractive to you. You will work in an interdisciplinary, international, diverse environment. Your main task will be to support our Siberian tundra precipitation experiment (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.mex.2021.101331). You might further contribute to the EU-CHARTER project on ‘Drivers and feedbacks of changes in Arctic terrestrial biodiversity’.

Our research group (https://www.ieu.uzh.ch/en/research/ecology/spatial.html) is highly interdisciplinary and we integrate methods reaching from in situ experimental research, observational methods (including drone and satellite-based remote sensing), large-scale data syntheses, to modelling approaches for studying vegetation changes and feedbacks, especially through energy fluxes, in the Arctic system.

This postdoc position will allow you to further develop your academic profile, with opportunities in publishing, co-supervision of MSc and PhD students, teaching, and grant applications. Exact definition of the job profile will be discussed in more detail during job negotiations.

The position will be at postdoc level (80-100%), for initially 2 years (including a 3-months trial period), with an option for prolongation. Working location is at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, in our brand-new facilities on Irchel campus, and out in the Siberian tundra during summer time for field work.

Please submit your application as a single pdf file, including a cover letter describing your motivation and potential contribution to our research topics and group, and a CV and publication list to admin.schaepman-strub@ieu.uzh.ch. Review of applications will start on 15 January 2022.

For further information, please contact Professor Gabriela Schaepman-Strub (gabriela.schaepman@ieu.uzh.ch).
