Dear colleagues,
don’t forget today’s Biology Thursday seminar,
on site in room MA335, 23th May, 12:15 with
Dr. Tuomo Mantere, University of Oulu, Research Unit of Translational Medicine, on
"Next generation cytogenetics with optical genome mapping"
Optical genome mapping (OGM) is a novel genomic technology used to generate high-resolution maps of the genome. It offers a unique capability to detect structural variations (SVs) and other genomic alterations that
may be challenging to detect through current short-read sequencing and traditional low-resolution cytogenetic methods. This presentation covers the principles of OGM technology and presents proof-of-concept studies utilizing this technology for the detection
of constitutional chromosomal aberrations underlying rare diseases, as well as acquired chromosomal aberrations in leukemia.
