Oulun yliopiston Peppi-opintotietojärjestelmään tehdään versiopäivitys 2.-8.10.

Versiopäivityksen vuoksi Peppi-palvelussa on käyttökatko torstaista 2.10.2025 klo 8 alkaen. Käyttökatko päättyy keskiviikkona 8.10. klo 9, jonka jälkeen kirjautuminen järjestelmään onnistuu jälleen normaalisti. Käyttökatkon aikana kaikki Pepin työpöydät ja opinto-opas ovat pois käytöstä eikä järjestelmään pääse kirjautumaan. Katko koskee kaikkia Pepin käyttäjiä.

Tuudon toiminnot, kuten lukujärjestys, opintotiedot ja opiskelijakortti, ovat käytettävissä myös käyttökatkon ajan. Huomioithan kuitenkin, että Tuudoon tallentuvat käyttökatkoa edeltävät tiedot, mutta tiedot eivät päivity katkon aikana. Lyhyet katkot myös suunnitellun käyttökatkon jälkeen ovat mahdollisia. Näistä katkoista tiedotetaan yliopiston verkkosivujen Pepin kirjautumissivulla, johon käyttäjä ohjataan katkon aikaisen kirjautumisyrityksen jälkeen. 

Nyt päivitettävässä versiossa 5.3.0 on jatkettu kehitystä kansallisiin integraatioihin, kuten Opin.fi-, Opintopolku- ja oppijanumerorekisteri-integraatioihin sekä Emrex-ratkaisuun. Lisäksi versiossa on mukana uusia ominaisuuksia muun muassa valintasääntöjen ja ristiinopiskelun toiminnallisuuksiin, korjauksia käytössä oleviin toiminnallisuuksiin sekä täysin uusi hakijan työpöytä. 

Olemme tunnistaneet versiopäivitysten negatiiviset vaikutukset palveluiden saatavuuteen käyttökatkojen aikana. Käyttökatkojen hallinnan kannalta konkreettisin ja merkittävin parannusmahdollisuus olisi siirtyminen SaaS-muotoiseen opintotietojärjestelmään, josta on parhaillaan käynnissä selvitys. Julkaisemme tarkempaa tietoa uusista toiminnallisuuksista ja SaaS-selvityksestä myöhemmin syksyllä. 

Version upgrade to the Peppi student information system from 2 to 8 October

A version upgrade to the Peppi student information system at the University of Oulu will take place at the beginning of October. Due to the version upgrade, Peppi service will be unavailable starting from Thursday, 2 October 2025 at 8 am. The service break will end on Wednesday, 8 October 2025 at 9 am, after which users will be able to log in and use the system as normal. During the break, all Peppi desktops and the Study Guide will be inaccessible, and login to the system will not be possible. The break will affect all Peppi users.

Functions within Tuudo mobile app — such as the timetable, study records, and student card — will remain available during the service break. However, please note that the information shown in Tuudo will reflect the status prior to the service break, and will not be updated while the system is offline. 

Short interruptions may also occur after the planned service break. These will be announced on the Peppi login page, to which users will be redirected if they attempt to access the system during downtime. 

The upcoming version 5.3.0 includes continued development of national integrations, such as those with Opintopolku, Opin.fi, the learner number register, and Emrex solution. In addition, the update will introduce new features related to selection rules and cross-institutional studies, improvements to existing functionalities, as well as a completely new applicant desktop. 

We have recognised the adverse effects that version updates can have on service availability during maintenance windows. In terms of improving the management of such service interruptions, the most concrete and impactful opportunity would be a transition to a SaaS-based student information system. An evaluation of this option is currently in progress. More detailed information regarding upcoming functionalities and the ongoing SaaS assessment will be made available later in the autumn.
