· A major novelty in this call is that the research plan is now a part of the online application form. Content (text and images) of the research plan can be imported to the online application from a Word document. However, it has been noted that it is not possible to wrap text around images. This will take up space and increase the number of pages. The Academy of Finland is aware of the problem but unfortunately can not find a technical solution in time for this call

· Another new feature was also planned for this call: issuing of the commitment of the site of research during the application stage. However, the commitment will be issued as previously: the applicant must identify the person issuing the commitment of the site of research who after having received an email notification will issue the commitment. This can be done after closing of the call.

· Note !  The Academy of Finland has decided to allocate a maximum of 25 million euros to early-career researchers who have shown rapid progress in their research career and who have significant potential to ensure the renewal of research in their Field. The applicant must be a researcher at the professor or docent level. In the review of applications, special attention will be paid to the applicant’s achievements in the past five years and to their potential to contribute to the renewal of research.  Further information

· The Research Support Services have compiled a summary of the occurring strengths and weaknesses in the evaluation reports of the September 2017 call. We hope this will help the grant applicants to focus on certain dimensions in the application that the evaluators pay attention to.   See the document.

· You can ask the support services to comment on your application. If you would like your application to be reviewed, please contact me by  17^th of September.
