Dear Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students,
Join our amazing team of volunteer students at the 20th Eurasian Grassland Conference (EGC), hosted at the University of Oulu from 6–10th July 2025, and gain valuable experience, international networking opportunities and course credits!
Conference Theme: Broadening the Horizons of Grassland Science for the Anthropocene
Event website: https://edgg.org/egc2025
Organised by the Eurasian Dry Grassland Group (EDGG) in the collaboration with the Biodiverse Anthropocenes Research Programme (ANTS) of the University of Oulu supported by the Research Council of Finland, this prestigious annual conference brings together
researchers, practitioners, and students interested in grassland ecology, biodiversity conservation, land use, and sustainability. Each year, the event travels to a new location within the Palaearctic region, and in 2025, it is coming to Oulu! We expect around
100 participants from Europe and Asia.
Who can apply?
We are now inviting Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students from the University of Oulu to join the local organising team as assistants.
What will you do?
Volunteers will help with: preparation of an excursions field guide, registration desk and guest welcome, technical support for the sessions (PowerPoint, Zoom), campus guidance and logistics, general conference assistance.
In addition to the conference dates (6–10 July), you will also participate in a few preparation sessions in June (exact dates to be confirmed).
What will you get out of this?
Experience of organizing a large international scientific event (which you can add to your CVs), free access to the entire conference programme at the university, networking with international researchers, a beautiful shirt and bag with the conference logos,
free lunches and refreshments provided during the conference, possibility to earn 2 ECTS credits through the course "Assisting in Organising Scientific Events". Furthermore, this will be fun!
How to apply?
Send a short motivation letter to EGC2025@lists.oulu.fi, by 25 May 2025, and include information about any relevant skills and experiences you have. Please also indicate if you would be available to help during the post-conference excursion to Oulanka
during 11-13th July. If you have questions, feel free to contact Mykyta Peregrym (mykyta.peregrym@oulu.fi). He is happy to help with anything related to the event or volunteering.
Do not miss this opportunity to be part of an inspiring, international event and help shape the future of grassland science!
