Academy of Finland September calls published – support is available for applicants

The Academy of Finland has published calls for applications for its September 2022 calls. Funding opportunities will be opened for Research Fellowship, Clinical Researcher, Project funding, Sport Science research projects and Mobility.

The calls open 25 August and close either 28 September or 5 October depending on the call. All call texts and guidelines can be found on the Academy’s website:

The Research Fellowships funding has been revised this year and there are significant changes. Please attend the Academy's Ask and Apply webinars to learn more and utilize the in-house support we offer this year for Academy applicants:

Abstract Workshops for Academy Research Fellow applicants

We started the abstract workshops on 7 June but if you hurry you can still participate. The first workshop (7.6.) was an introduction to writing an abstract. The recording and presentation material is available for participants on the Teams where the workshop continues. Please contact terhi.kuusisto@oulu.fi if you wish to take part. Participants will draft their abstracts by 13 June and share them with a small group of academic peers to get - as well as give - comments by 20 June. We will have a final webinar on 21 June at 9-10 am for feedback, observations and information about further support.

Applying to the Academy of Finland training event

On 11 August at 12-15 we will offer a training event with presentations and a possibility to ask and discuss the ins and outs of Academy funding. Registration is not yet open for this event, but please save the date and be prepared to meet us on campus.

Application workshops on Fridays at 9-10 am

Nearer the call deadlines we will support your writing section by section. There will be brief sessions and you will get comments to your texts (from the three first sessions only, not the CV) from academic peers and research funding specialists in the week following the session. Attending these workshops will keep you active!

Faculty research funding specialists read and comment applications. Please make sure you contact me as early as possible but by 9 September at the latest (or 16 September if you have participated in the workshops) .

Annotated templates for research plans will be provided soon and these will be stored on Patio at Academy of Finland | Patio (oulu.fi)
