FRONT research programme and the Resilience Academy of Oulu warmly invite you to an inspiring workshop on resilience on November 18. Venue: Maisemasali, Library (3rd floor), Linnanmaa campus Date & time: 18th November 2025, 13:00 – 16:00 Moderator: Dr Stephen Vennhttps://www.researchgate.net/profile/Stephen_Venn Expert panel: Dr Juraj Svajdahttps://www.researchgate.net/profile/Juraj-Svajda-2, Assoc. Prof Aleksi Räsänenhttps://www.oulu.fi/en/researchers/aleksi-rasanen and Dr Maija Toivanenhttps://www.oulu.fi/en/researchers/maija-toivanen Target audience: PhD students, early-stage researchers, later-stage researchers, primarily from the biological, geographical and environmental sciences, and anyone else who is interested in the topic.
Do you know what is resilience? Are you familiar with the connections between your own research and such themes as resilience, sustainability and major societal challenges? When we begin our academic careers, at the MSc and PhD stages, we are encouraged to specialize. Then when we begin preparing funding applications and proposals, we are expected to describe how our research is relevant to the major societal challenges, and aligning our research with EU strategy. That can be very challenging for many researchers unless they are used to considering such concepts. This event will give you the opportunity to discuss with your peers about what resilience is and how your research is relevant to resilience, with input from scientists who are conducting research on resilience. Coffee & snacks will be served. Welcome! Register for the workshophttps://link.webropolsurveys.com/S/B9CE685AD0C22206 by November 17. Event pagehttps://www.oulu.fi/en/events/resilience-workshop
