RESEARCH COUNCIL OF FINLAND
2025
Call for research into forest biomass in Finland DL 7.5.2025
The present call provides funding to consortium projects focusing on research to utilise forest biomass. The projects to be funded must support the sustainable
use of Finland’s forest biomass as well as promote climate objectives and forest biodiversity.
Funding will be granted to projects promoting innovative and sustainable solutions for the versatile use of forest biomass, for example in the bioproducts industry
and in energy production and nature tourism.
-Applied for by consortia composed of two or several research teams
-Maximum grant €1m for four-year consortium project and €500,000 for consortium subproject

Funding for research into sustainable energy solutions of the future

The present call is focused on a holistic and systemic approach to renewable and emission-free energy solutions (electricity, heating and cooling, fuels). Increasing
our carbon handprint is at the heart of future solutions. The funding is targeted at consortia of research teams representing at least two fields of research. The aim of the call is to support advanced energy research and broad impact by funding multidisciplinary
consortium projects.
-Applied for by consortia composed of two or more teams representing at least two different research fields and at least two different organisations
- Up to 1 million euros for four-year project and up to 500,000 euros for individual subproject

funding for international collaboration in high-performance computing,

Supports international research collaboration that makes use of EuroHPC’s high-performance computing resources in cooperation with partners in EuroHPC user countries
(incl. the United Kingdom) or the LUMI supercomputer in collaboration with researchers working in the following states, organisations or countries: US states of Texas and Colorado, US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Japan and Canada.
- Application must include at least one international collaborator from at least one of the countries/regions specified in the call text
- Up to €500,000 for three-year project, up to €1m in total for consortium-based project and up to €500,000 for consortium subproject

The call has six thematic areas:
The call has two stages. The pre-proposal deadline is 13 May 2025, and the full-proposal deadline is 19 November 2025.
The Research Council of Finland has earmarked a total of 1,500,000 euros for joint projects within the call.

use of Artificial Intelligence, DL 13.5.2025
The aim of this call is to fund excellent research activities that address shared Nordic and Nordic-Baltic societal challenges in the context of extensive use
and implementation of AI. The call should contribute to competence-building among Nordic and Nordic-Baltic research communities and strengthen networks and collaborations.
NordForsk call: Sustainable Futures
of Forests DL 27.5.2025
The Joint Nordic-Baltic initiative on sustainable futures of forests is an important collaboration that addresses the pressing challenges facing forests in the
Nordic and Baltic regions. The projects to be funded are expected to address issues related to forestry, biodiversity and societal transformations.
The aim of the call is to fund research projects in the societal security field that will contribute to increased knowledge about antagonistic threats and societal
security in the Nordic-Baltic region. Antagonistic threats are human initiated and carried out by individuals, groups, organisations or governments and range from hybrid attacks, cyber-attacks, information manipulation, hybrid threats and armed actions from
states to gang-related violence, youth violence, organised crime and terrorism.
Applicants should address one or more of the following aspects in proposals:

Valtioneuvoston kanslia on avannut tarjouskilpailun vuoden 2025 valtioneuvoston päätöksentekoa tukevan tutkimustoiminnan määrärahoista. Tarjouskilpailu perustuu valtioneuvoston
päätöksentekoa tukevaan tutkimussuunnitelmaan.
Tarjouskilpailu on tarkoitettu korkeakouluille, tutkimuslaitoksille ja muille tutkimus- ja kehittämistoimintaa tekeville organisaatioille, tai näiden muodostamille konsortioille,

Erityisavustus FOOD2.0 TKI-haku
2025 DL 12.5.2025
Haun taustalla on Business Finlandin rahoittama ja Valion Veturi-yrityksenä kokoama FOOD2.0-ohjelma,
jossa pyritään kokoamaan yhteen ruokajärjestelmän toimijat ja tutkimuslaitokset työskentelemään yhdessä kohti tulevaisuuden luontoviisasta ruokajärjestelmää. MMM:n TKI-hankehaku tukee etenkin FOOD2.0-veturihankkeen tavoitteiden teemoja kolme (Regenerative
production) ja neljä (Circular economy & resource efficiency). Tutkimushankkeiden rahoittamiseen on varattu kaudella 2025-2029 noin 5 miljoonaa euroa. Maa- ja metsätalousministeriö vastaa hankkeiden rahoituksesta, arvioinnista sekä haun hallinnoinnista.

How to write a successful Horizon Europe ERC grant proposal,

This two-part webinar-form training provides a roadmap to submission, tackling stumbling blocks that you, as Principal Investigator (PI), may have when writing
your ERC grant application. This training will focus on creating the right mindset for submitting a proposal, covering the ERC objectives and evaluation criteria, what the panels expect, how to strategically approach the design of the project, and how to generate
a convincing argumentation that will allow the reviewers to understand the feasibility of your ambitious research project. This training will also guide participants systematically through the different parts of the proposal writing, addressing the critical
elements for writing the CV part, extended synopsis and B2.
