Dear colleagues of the biology unit,

It was a pretty quiet day today at the unit, the whole university almost like dead. As I final thing at work before leaving to the Christmas holidays, I went to the piano that we have here at the university and played the traditional Finnish Christmas song “Huurre puita huikuilee”. This song was made during the war, and it tells about a small children who is looking out of the window, missing her Dad and waiting him to return to the home from the front line. She does not know the her Dad has fallen and will never return. If you want to listen, just download the video below.

A bit sad perhaps, but I find the song beautiful. With these greetings I wish all my dear colleagues a peaceful holiday time!

Marko
