Subject: PhD position in insect population genomics
Dear All,
We have a PhD student position open in the project "Resolving deep divergences and rapid radiations in the Hymenoptera: the next generation", which is funded by the Finnish Academy.
The PhD project will focus on the "rapid radiations" part of the main project, with an aim to elucidate the species status of (and extent of gene flow among) closely-related lineages within several
sawfly groups that have undergone recent rapid radiations.
A full description of the position can be found here:
https://www.saimanet.com/certiahome/open_job_view.html?did=5600&lang=fi&id=00002705&jc=16
As the analyses will be based on data generated using ddRADseq (or some equivalent approach), a strong background in population genetics/genomics is desirable. The deadline for applications is October
31, 2016, and the work is projected to start January 1, 2017. The current funding covers the first 2,5 years of the PhD project, but the chances of obtaining further funding should be good if things proceed as planned.
Please forward this to potential applicants and suitable mailing lists!
Thanks,
Tommi
