Dear colleagues,
sorry about multiple e-mails – some info was missing from the first message_
Biology Thursday seminar continues this week on zoom at 12:15 (link below) with Dr. Silva Uusi-Heikkilä, Univ. Jyväskylä, on ”Fish populations under multiple stressors”
Silva’s work combines ecological and evolutionary experiments, mathematical models and next generation sequencing technology to study the effects human induced disturbances on fish populations, more detail at: https://www.jyu.fi/science/en/bioenv/staff-and-administration/staff/uusi-hei... and https://scholar.google.fi/citations?hl=en&user=0AJDgw0AAAAJ&view_op=...
Abstract: Fish populations today experience multiple human-induced stressors simultaneously, such as climate change, pollution, and fishing. Studying the phenotypic and genetic effects of these stress factors is notoriously difficult in nature. An experimental approach might therefore provide us with some answers of how size-selectively harvested (fisheries selection) populations respond to other stressors in their environment.
See you online on Thursday,
Heikki
