Hi all,
see below – funding available for supervision of PhD theses in collaboration with research institutes! It is formulated a bit unclearly but I asked and the
PhD student does not need to work in a research institute, as long as there is some kind of a collaboration! First come, first served so be quick!
Cheers,
Heikki

Subject: [Phd-supervisors] Research institute cooperation: funding for supervisors - call ends April 7
Dear doctoral supervisor,
Do you cooperate with a research institute in doctoral supervision?
This and next week you can still apply for funding for enhancing supervision
in research institute cooperation.
What?
The university is allocating strategic funding to supervisors who are committed to enhanced supervision of a doctoral researcher working in a research institute. The goal
is to improve the cooperation between the university and research institutes as well as the advancement of doctoral researchers working with research institutions.
Applications will be funded on a
first come, first served basis for a maximum of 13 supervisors. So far, four applications have been funded. Funding is therefore still available for nine supervisors.
Read the attachment for further details.
Amount of funding
10 000 €, with a possibility for two further funding allocations if an annual review shows advancement, for
a maximum total of 3 x 10 000 €.
How can the money be spent?
The funding is to be used to support doctoral training coordinated between the university and the research institute, but no specific guidelines are given for the use of the money.
The applying faculty will use their best judgement.
To date, funding has been granted, e.g., for short-term salaried periods for doctoral researchers to be able to focus on their research, travel expenses, and software and other infrastructure costs.
How do I apply?
The application should show how funding will be used to develop supervision. For more instructions on the contents of the application, see the attached slides.
The application must be approved by the Dean of the Faculty.
Faculties can negotiate with research institutions to nominate supervisor-doctoral researcher pairs for funding.
Send your application to
uniogs@oulu.fi.
When?
Deadline for submissions is
April 7, 2024.
