·        Alfred Kordelin Foundation – Major cultural project grants, dl 31.1.2019

·        ERC Consolidator Grant DL 7.2.2019                         

 

·        Preliminary information: Aca­de­my pro­gram - Mo­lecu­lar Re­gu­la­to­ry Networks of Life (R'Life) 2019–2023 . The first call will open in April 2019

·        Pre­li­mi­na­ry in­for­ma­tion: Aca­de­my pro­gram - En­vi­ron­men­tal Health in a Chan­ging Cli­ma­te . The first call will open in April 2019.

·        Preliminary information: Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking 2019 call will open on 4 April 2019 and  close on 4 September 2019. The indicative budget is €135 million, split between 21 topics.

The Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU) has released its 2019 Work Plan. The BBI JU is an EU-industry partnership (Joint Technology Initiative - JTI), which supports research and innovation in bio-based feedstocks and bio-refining to demonstrate the economic viability of bio-alternatives to non-renewable products.

The 2019 call for proposals is based around four pillars:

§  fostering supply of sustainable biomass feedstock to feed both, existing and new value chains;

§  optimising efficient processing for integrated biorefineries through research, development and innovation;

§  developing innovative bio-based products for identified market applications;

§  creating and accelerating the market uptake of bio-based products and applications.

 

 

                         

Preliminary information on the Academy of Finland FIRI 2019 call and the University's internal application procedure

 

Internal deadline of the University: 8th April 2019

The Academy of Finland research infrastructure call FIRI 2019 will open in April and it will close in mid-May. In the FIRI 2019 call you can apply for funding for major national research infrastructures included in the Finnish Roadmap (call 1) and new openings and / or other infrastructures outside the Finnish Roadmap (call 2).

INTERNAL APPLICATION PROCEDURE

As required by the Academy of Finland, all applicants must attach to their application a prioritisation list, in which the University of Oulu lists its applying infrastructures in order of preference. For this reason, all applicants must submit their FIRI application by 8.4.2019 for internal prioritization.The Research Council will process the applications and the Management Group of Research will make the proposal of prioritisation to the Rector. The applicants will receive the prioritisation letter signed by the Rector. Detailed instructions on the internal call will be published in Notio after the publication of the call text.

 

INFORMATION EVENT

An information event on the FIRI 2019 call will be held on February 7, 2019 in Helsinki. You can register for the event at www.academyevents.fi, or follow the event on the Academy's website.

 

FUTURE CALLS

According to preliminary data, a roadmap call will be organized in 2020, and the new roadmap for research infrastructures will be published in the second half of 2021.

 

 

 

Support services for ERC Advanced Grant applicants

 

European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators who have a track-record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years. Advanced Grant Call 2019 will open 21.05.2019 with a deadline 29.8.2019.  The University of Oulu wants to encourage its Advanced Grant level researchers to apply and will pilot an intensified support scheme for selected applicants during spring and summer. All researchers planning to submit ERC AdG can express their interest to be included in the support and coaching pilot by answering to a short Webropol questionnaire by 4th February. The questionnaire will ask the applicants to provide a short description of the research idea (max. 2000 characters). All information provided will be kept confidential. The Research Support Services will assess the technical eligibility of the applicants against the ERC Advanced Grant criteria. The applicants who are selected for the coaching will follow a pre-agreed timetable for the proposal preparation and submit their final proposal to the call in August 2019.
