I4WORLD Intensive course:
Imaging and characterisation methods, theoretical principles and applications
University of Oulu, May 27-31, 2024
Postgraduate course, 1 ECTS (+1 ECTS if conducting learning diary)
Registration in Peppi or via Tuudo (course code: DP00AN67-3001), dl. May 17, 2024
Open for all doctoral researchers at the University of Oulu and mandatory for doctoral researchers selected to the I4WORLD programme.
The main goal of the course is to increase the awareness of the principles, requirements, limitations and possibilities of different imaging and characterisation methods.
Content: Understanding principles of electromagnetic radiation interaction with matter, principles of electronic, vibrational, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopies, the use of imaging (e.g. MRI, X-Ray, optical, electron, and scanning probe microscopies), the principles of diffraction methods, possibilities of different methods and the latest developments. Imaging and characterisation methods in applied sciences: combining methods. Practical limitations. Requirements for on-line measurements. Requirements for medical measurement and imaging. Computational interpretation of experimental results.
