Dear all, I am offering a short-term appointment to carry out a review of key policy and stakeholder documents related to the governance of soil biodiversity and soil health in Finland. Please see below for the job description, and please spread the word in your networks. Thank you! Anna
Policy and grey literature review: soil health and soil biodiversity Type of employment: Full time Duration: 3-4 months (depending on the candidate's level and time availability) Start: January or February 2023 How to apply: Please email me with a short (max 250 words) personal statement and an academic CV. Deadline: 21st December 2022.
Description of role: This short project seeks to understand how the issues of soil biodiversity and soil health are being framed by governance actors and other key stakeholders. The geographic scope is primarily Finland, with some analysis of documents relating to Nordic and European spheres. The project will identify key policy documents and key grey literature (especially from land-based stakeholder organisations), and analyse them in order to understand the discourses associated with soil biodiversity and soil health, including (but not limited to) 1. what kind of 'objects' soil biodiversity and soil health are, 2. whose knowledges count in relation to these, 3. how responsibility for these is being constituted, 4. what values and societal concerns are being connected with these, and why. Required skills: The candidate should be familiar with textual analysis methods (through e.g. interview coding, ethnographic work, discourse analysis, thematic analysis), should be able to read Finnish, and have good English written communication skills.
Outputs: The analysis will form the basis of a paper on which the researcher will be named as a lead or co-author (depending on the level of involvement in the writing process).
