The University of Oulu’s new staff training application, Mondo, introduces a fresher, clearer, and role‑based way to find the right staff trainings for you, replacing the old Osku!
In spring 2025, the University of Oulu also defined the orientations and trainings required from its staff, which relate to obligations under the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Employment Contracts Act. The guidelines emphasize employee orientation to their work tasks, working conditions, and the use of safe working methods and work equipment.
What does “qualification” mean?
In Mondo, certain trainings form qualifications that are based on the guidelines mentioned above. These selected trainings are labeled as qualifications in Mondo, and you can also identify them in the staff training selection through pictograms. The qualifications required from all staff can also be found, in both Finnish and English, from the homepage training collection titled Qualifications required of all staff. Easy to find, easy to complete!
University-level defined qualifications
Qualifications required from all staff:
  1. General Orientation of New Employees
    A collection of trainings; includes the online courses marked with an asterisk below, as well as the “Orientation to the University of Oulu and Employment Matters” online course, which alone is not a qualification.
    Must be completed by new employees within six months of the start of employment.
  2. Equality and Non‑Discrimination*
    In orientation and thereafter every 5 years.
  3. Ethical Principles*
    In orientation, and all staff were required to complete this by the end of 2025, and thereafter every 5 years. 
    By the beginning of 2026, approximately 65% of staff have completed the training.
  4. Basics of Data Protection for Personnel*
    In orientation, and must be completed by all staff by March 31st, 2026 and thereafter every 2 years.
  5. Basics of Information Security*
    In orientation, and must be completed by all staff by May 31st, 2026, and thereafter every 2 years.
  6. University of Oulu Safety Orientation*
    In orientation and must be completed by all staff by May 31st, 2026, and thereafter every 3 years.
Enroll for the above trainings via Mondo; instructions for logging in are provided below. After enrollment, the “Go to training” button will direct you to the Howspace workspace, where you’ll find the course content or instructions for completing the training. After completing the required content, the transfer of your completion record to Mondo has a small delay of approximately 15–30 minutes. Once Mondo recognizes the completion from Howspace, your qualification information will also update in My Profile > Qualifications.

Oulun yliopisto on myös määritellyt keväällä 2025 henkilöstöltään vaadittavat perehdytykset ja koulutukset, jotka liittyvät muun muassa työturvallisuuslain ja työsopimuslain velvoitteisiin. Ohjeessa korostetaan työntekijöiden perehdyttämistä työtehtäviin, työolosuhteisiin sekä turvallisten työtapojen ja työvälineiden käyttöön.
Mitä pätevyydellä tarkoitetaan? 
Mondossa tietyt koulutukset muodostavat pätevyyksiä, jotka perustuvat edellä mainittuun ohjeeseen. Nämä valitut koulutukset on nimetty Mondossa pätevyyksinä ja tunnistat ne henkilöstökoulutusvalikoimasta myös piktogrammein. Koko henkilöstöltä edellytetyt pätevyyskoulutukset löydät Mondon etusivulta sekä suomeksi että englanniksi myös Koko henkilöstöltä edellytetyt pätevyydet -koulutuskokoelmasta. Yliopistotasolla määritellyt pätevyydet

Uuden työntekijän yleisperehdytys 
Kokoelma koulutuksia; sisältää alla olevat tähdellä merkityt verkkokurssit sekä lisäksi Perehdytys Oulun yliopistoon ja työsuhdeasioihin-verkkokurssin, joka yksin ei ole pätevyys. Uusien työntekijöiden suoritettava kuuden kuukauden kuluessa työsuhteen alkamisesta
Tasa-arvo ja yhdenvertaisuus*
Perehdytyksessä ja sen jälkeen 5 vuoden välein
Eettiset periaatteet*
Perehdytyksessä, ja koko henkilöstön tuli suorittaa vuoden 2025 loppuun mennessä ja sen jälkeen 5 vuoden välein.
Vuoden 2026 alussa koulutuksen on suorittanut n. 65% henkilöstöstä.

Ilmoittaudu koulutuksiin Mondossa, jäljempänä ohjeet kirjautumiseen. Ilmoittautumisen jälkeen ”Siirry koulutukseen”-painikkeesta ohjaudut Howspace-työtilaan, josta löytyy kurssisisältö tai ohjeet kyseisen koulutuksen suorittamiseen. Suoritettuasi pyydetty sisältö, suoritusmerkinnän automaattisessa siirtymisessä Mondoon on pieni viive, noin 15-30 minuuttia. Kun Mondo tunnistaa Howspace-alustalta tulevan suoritustietosi, myös pätevyystietosi päivittyvät Oma profiili > Pätevyydet.
